Port Blair, Aug 3: On July 27, a complaint was received at PS Aberdeen from one Maninder Singh regarding theft of his gold ornament while he was taking rest in the waiting hall at G.B. Pant Hospital near X- Ray room, upon which a case was register vide Crime No 459/2016 U/S 380 IPC and the South Andaman Police after making sincere efforts recovered the stolen gold ornament within 24 hrs by arresting a culprit namely Sunil Kumar (34) yrs R/o Jolginder Nagar, Campbell Bay staying at Port Blair. The accused was produced before the Court at Port Blair from where he has been sent to Judicial Custody Remand. The general public have been requested to pass on information of any illegal activities noticed in the area in South Andaman District to PCR (100) or nearest Police Station.
Theft reported from a house at Habidipur

Port Blair, Aug 01: A theft has been reported from a house at Habidipur, yesterday evening. It is learnt that the owner of the house Mr Manoj Ganguly, S/o Mr Ashok Ganguly a private worker by profession has lodged the complaint at Ograbraj Police Station.
According to sources, the whole family of Mr Manoj Ganguly was at Austinabad for the engagement ceremony of Mr Manoj Ganguly, when the incident took place.
When the family members returned back at around 02.30 pm, they saw the rear door of the house broken and the laptop, tab, Sony Camera, 2 Hard Disk, a Fast track sunglass, Nokia Lumia phone, Samsung Galaxy mobile and a badminton racket of Mr Manoj were missing.
It learnt that the Ograbraj Police Station has registered a case in this regard and has already started the investigation. Further details are awaited.
Bhathu Basthi unidentified dead body case converted into a murder case

Port Blair, July 28: The case of an unidentified dead body, which was found from the graveyard of Bhathu Basthi (Bhathu Basti Pond area) at the morning hours on 19 July has been converted into a murder case as the woman had a minor injury as per the post mortem report, it is learnt.
Following this the PS Tylerabad has registered a murder case in this regard to make sure that there is no foul play.
Soon a team of Tylerabad Police with a team of forensic team also reached the graveyard of Bhathubasthi where the dead body was found to find out any possible left out clue but nothing was found.
Highly placed sources told Andaman Sheekha that the injury reported during Post Mortem is so minor that it can’t cause death but police department is not taking any chance, which is appreciable step.
Half Decomposed dead body of a 57 year old man found in the woods

Baratang, July 28: Half Decomposed body of a 57 year old man namely Mr Miyanus Kirketta was found in the woods at Baratang this afternoon.
As per reports, the man used to visit the jungle regularly but was missing since 23rd July after he went to the jungle.
The family members of Mr Miryanus Kirketta then reported the matter at the Baratang Police Station on 24th July.
As per reports, the Police team tried very hard to find out Mr Miryanus Kirketta but failed.
It is learnt that this afternoon a villager seen a half decomposed dead body and reported the matter immediately to the Police. After which the police identified the body of missing Mr Miryanus Kirketta. The prima facie investigation says that it was a suicide. Further details are awaited.
Theft case worked out within 24 hours

Port Blair, July 28: The Aberdeen Police has solved a theft case of a gold chain and a locket in the G B Pant Hospital that was reported in the Aberdeen Police Station just few days earlier by Mr Mahender Singh resident of Gandhi Nagar, Campbell Bay.
As per reports, the Aberdeen Police, under the leadership of SHO PS Aberdeen Mahesh Kumar has arrested Mr Sunil Kumar, 34 years S/o Late Michael Soreng resident of Joginder Nagar, Campbell Bay ex-staff of Territorial Army and recovered all the gold ornament from his possession.
As per latest update Sunil Kumar was later produced to court from where he has been sent to Judicial Custody.

Five booked for illegally entering inside the Jarawa reserved area

Port Blair, July 26: The Ograbraj Police Station has arrested five fishermen yesterday for illegally entering inside the Jarawa Reserved Area.
As per sources, police has also seized the dinghy as well as the other items available with the fishermen.
Police has registered a case under PAT regulation Act. Further details are awaited.
37 year old man commits suicide

Campbell Bay, July 26: A 37 year old man namely Mr Ujwal Ghosal a steward by profession has committed suicide by hanging himself in the room of his government quarter yesterday afternoon.
The reason behind the man taking this extreme step is not yet known. Campbell Bay Police has registered a case of Unnatural death in this regard.
South Andaman Police solves LED Lights theft case; 03 arrested
Port Blair, July 26: On 21/07/2016 upon a written report received from the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Guptapara, a case regarding theft of Street Lights installed at Nayasahar, Manglutan and Guptapara was registered at PS Humfrigunj and the South Andaman Police swung into action and by making sincere efforts succeeded in arresting three persons namely (1) Karuna Das (23) R/o Manjery (2) Nayan Chandra Das (20) R/o Naveen Nagar, Diglipur now at Manjery and (3) S.Venkat Rao (43), Driver in PBMC, Port Blair R/o Guptapara and recovered the stolen street lights from the possession of accused Karuna Das. Investigation of the case is in progress.
General Public are requested to pass on information on any illegal activity noticed in the area in South Andaman District to Nos. 100, 233077, 232405, 258019 or to the numbers of nearest Police Station.
Thief caught red handed at Rangat

Rangat, July 25: A thief namely Mohammed Iqbal, 29 years was caught red handed while he was stealing crucial items from a house situated at Rangat Bazaar, close to Rangat Police Station, this afternoon.
As per reports, when the thief was stealing a mobile phone from the house, the owner of the house came inside the house and saw him in stealing act.
The owner of the house immediately informed the Rangat Police Station over phone and the thief was arrested by the police on the spot.
It is learnt that the thief was produced in the Mayabunder Court later this evening, from where he has been sent to the judicial custody.
