DARK SIDE OF SOCIAL MEDIA: Driver of High Ranked Officer allegedly posts Fake messages in WatsApp
Staff Correspondent
Port Blair, Nov 11: A Daily Rated Driver working in secretariat has allegedly created a ripple in social network groups by posting fake and defamatory post against a HGC, working in Civil Aviation Department.
It is alleged that the said Daily Rated Driver of a High Ranked Officer, who himself pose as an IAS officer, attempted this crime, as he was not given VIP treatment, while issuing tickets from Civil Aviation ticket counter and was not allowed to jump the line by the HGC.
As such treatment had hurt his ego the said Daily Rated Driver, reportedly posted defamatory post in WatsApp group against the HGC, who is physically challenged.
When the matter came into the knowledge of the concerned HGC, he immediately filed a complaint in PS Aberdeen and in his complained he pointed out that Mr. Bimal Biswas, a Daily Rated Driver, might be behind this.
When enquired by police, the said driver reportedly accepted his fault and later he posted an apology post in WatsApp.
By that time the damage was already done, as the message was shared in several WatsApp groups by people, without even verifying the facts. Such silly act brought bad name for the HGC and soon he was under tremendous stress.
The case was later registered as NC FIR and was sent to SDM court.
This is yet another example of how social media group is being misused by anti-social elements for spreading hatred for personal reasons. Worst part is that, there are people who forward those messages without even giving a second thought. If post such comment is a crime, forwarding the same is also a crime.
Hopefully such acts will be dealt with iron hands in coming days or anti-social elements will use social media as a powerful tool against helpless and honest people.
