Port Blair, Feb 01: A POCSO case was registered against a resident of Makachua village of Great Nicobar. As per details a minor girl with her infant baby had come to PHC Campbell Bay for treatment, when doctors detected that mother of the baby is a minor girl, nearly 14 year old.
On this the matter was reported to police and soon the accused, 33 years was arrested. The minor had girl reportedly delivered the baby at her home.

Port Blair, Jan 15: Just three days back the Director General of Police of Andaman and Nicobar Islands had told media persons that curbing illegal sale of drugs & liquors are high on his agenda and today the Police Station CCS seized more than 500 bottles of illicit liquor and arrested two persons.
As the DGP has expressed firm commitment against drugs and illicit liquors things have started to change in Andaman and such massive haul of liquor is an example.
Police confirms second arrest in Makka Pahad Woman Murder Case

Port Blair, Jan 13: Andaman Sheekha daily had reported on 13 January 2021 edition that Andaman and Nicobar police had cracked the murder case of Makka Pahad woman and also reported that there is possibility of one more arrest.
Now it has been learnt that the police has made the second arrest in this case.
The swift action by police to crack this case of crime against woman has been highly appreciated by public.
As per a press release issued by police today, Mrs. Sangeeta Bara, age 26 years, a resident of Makka Pahad was reported missing by her husband Mr. Maryanus Minj on 05/01/2021. On 06/01/2021 her body was found in a pit near coconut plantation at Makka Pahad. As there were injuries on her body, a case of murder was registered at PS Pahargaon and investigations taken up.
During interrogations it was revealed that Smti. Sangeeta Bara was murdered by her relatives, Jibren Minj, elder brother of her husband and his wife, Reshma Lakra. Both the accused have been arrested on 12/01/2021.
The accused were produced before the CJM Court today and the court has remanded them to police custody for 05 days. The interrogation team which has solved the murder case consisted of Shri Narra Chaitanya, IPS, SDPO (SA), Shri Kalaivanan, IPS, SDPO (Bambooflat), Shri Manny Bhushan Singh, IPS(P), Inspector Jagdishwar Rao (SHO Pahargaon), Inspector Rahul (SHO Aberdeen) and Sub Inspector Elangovan (SHO Bambooflat) under the supervision of Shri Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
Andaman and Nicobar Police Cracks Murder Case of Calicut Woman

Port Blair, Jan 12: Giving a clear message to the society about zero tolerance for crime against woman, the Andaman and Nicobar Police has finally cracked the blind murder case of Calicut.
As per details body of a missing woman (name withheld) of Calicut region was found on 6th January 2021 morning near her house by her relatives, in suspicious circumstances. The victim was reportedly missing since 5th January 2021 afternoon.
Following this a case of murder was registered at PS Aberdeen on 6th January 2021.
Sources said that the Andaman and Nicobar Police has arrested the brother in law of the victim, as the prime accused in this case and there is a possibility of one more arrest.
As this case was completely blind and there were hardly any direct evidence, the Andaman and Nicobar Police had formed multiple teams and investigated the case from different directions. Infact four IPS officers were directly overseeing the entire case to make sure that the victim and her family get justice and it sends a right message in society.
The motive behind the murder is still not clear, however, it is learnt that the police department will release a detailed statement soon.
Sources said that after sustained investigation and detailed interrogation the police department got success last night. The accused, will be produced to court tomorrow, it is learnt.
One Arrested from Kolkata for allegedly kidnapping minor girl

Port Blair, Jan 11: A team of Andaman and Nicobar Police has arrested an accused from Kolkata on the charges kidnapping a minor girl from Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
According to details the accused allegedly lured the minor girl and took her to Kolkata after which the parents of the minor girl lodged a complaint in nearby police station in this regard. Following this, a team was formed to trace the accused and the team soon arrested the accused from Kolkata and brought him to Port Blair yesterday. It is learnt that from court, the accused has been sent to Judicial Custody.
As per details, Sub Inspector Anish Ibrahim, headed the team, which comprised of ASI Jagdish and HC T Usman.
Man allegedly rapes friend’s wife, after consuming alcohol together; Arrested by Police

Port Blair, Jan 04: Andaman and Nicobar Police arrested a resident of Shoal Bay today for allegedly raping wife of his friend yesterday.
As per sources, the accused, Mr. Bansal Halder, 46 year, went to his friend’s house in another village yesterday to consume alcohol and after consuming alcohol he allegedly raped his friend’s wife.
A complaint in this regard was later registered at PS Ograbraj and taking swift action the investigating team under the leadership of SHO PS Ograbraj and other senior officers, arrested the accused. The accused was later produced to court today, from where he was sent to Judicial Custody. Further details are awaited. The swift action of Andaman and Nicobar Police in this case is appreciated.
POCSO Court, Mayabunder Convicts accused within Nine Days of Filling Charge-Sheet

Port Blair, Dec 16: First time in the history of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, speedy trial of case under POCSO Act was concluded within a short span of time. On 16 December 2020, Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Hon’ble Additional District & Sessions Judge -cum Special Judge under POCSO Act, Mayabunder convicted one accused namely Biplab Pal, a private labour of Rangat, originally from West Bengal and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for five years, for the offence punishable under section 10 of POCSO Act and also to pay fine of Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand), in default of payment which he will have to undergo R.I for three months more.
This POCSO case was matured before the Rangat PS on the basis of the recorded statement of the mother of the victim dated 23 November 2020.
The IO, SI V. Satyavati and Inspector Pritam Behari, the Case Chargesheet filing officer, rendered their outstanding service to find out all the clues of the case and filled the charge sheet of the case within a very short period.
Subsequently, after completion of investigation, I.O / SI Satyawathi of PS Rangat submitted charge-sheet on 08 December 2020 against the accused person before Hon’ble Court and thereafter charges were framed against the accused on 11 December 2020.
The accused had sexually abused a minor girl of seven years.
As per provision u/s 357A read with section 33 (8) of POCSO Act and rule 7 of POCSO rule, Hon’ble Special Court has awarded compensation of Rs. 4,00,000/- (rupees four lakhs) to the victim child which will be paid by Government from Government fund as provided 7(4) of POCSO rule. The speedy trial of this case was conducted by Shri. Keshab Ch. Mandal, Learned Special Public Prosecutor from prosecution side.
One detained with 200 KG of Venison

Port Blair, Dec 04: Yesterday evening on credible information a Police Team raided house of Mr. Shasi Kumar, 44 years, a resident of Garacharma Graveyard area. During search operation the team recovered 3 bags, containing near about 200 KG of Red Meat. During interrogation Mr. Shasi Kumar confirmed that those were venison (Deer Meat). The police team detained the accused and took him to Pahargaon Police Station for further investigation.
Two Diglipur residents convicted in POCSO Case
Port Blair, Dec o4: The Hon’ble Special Judge Mr. Raju Mukherjee on 24th November, 2020 convicted two accused persons namely Sameer Mondal and Hariprasad Biswas, resident of Milangram, Diglipur in a sexual assault case committed by them against minor girls.
It is averred that on 04.11.2013 the victim girls along with other school mate’s boarded STS bus, which was on its way from Sita Nagar to Hati Level, and the accused persons also boarded the said bus. The accused persons started teasing the victim girls and also touched them inappropriately. When the victim girls started to step down from the bus, the accused persons touched the private part of the victims girls.
The accused persons also pulled the hands of victim girls, used abusive language and touched their private part. The matter was brought to notice of PS Diliglipur who initiated a case against the accused persons under Section 354/34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 7 & 8 of POCSO Act.
The Hon’ble Court after conducting trial found the accused persons guilty of the offence and sentenced Sameer Mondal to suffer 03 years rigorous imprisonment under Section 8 of POCSO Act and Rs. 500/- in default of payment of such fine further simple imprisonment of three days.
Sameer Mondal was also sentenced with simple imprisonment of one year of offence punishable under Section 354 of IPC. The other accused Hariprasad Biswas was sentenced to suffer 01 year of simple imprisonment for the offence punishable under Section 12 of POCSO Act and fine of Rs. 200/- and in default of payment of such fine further simple imprisonment of two days.
Hariprasad Biswas was also sentenced with simple imprisonment of 01 year of offence punishable under Section 354 of IPC. The trial was conducted by Ms. A.S.Zinu, Special Public Prosecutor on behalf of the State.
POCSO case reported from Car Nicobar Island

Port Blair, Dec 03: A POCSO case has been reported from Car Nicobar Island yesterday. According to report a minor girl of Car Nicobar, a student of class IX had gone to BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar with complaints of stomach pain. During testing doctors detected that the girl is pregnant with four months.
Following this a POCSO case has been registered at PS Car Nicobar. The accused is said to be a 22 year youth and a resident of Car Nicobar.
