Port Blair, Apr 12: Police team of PS Kalighat arrested a 30-year-old man for sexually assaulting the woman in her house.
It was learnt that the woman was alone in her house when the man entered by asking her for a glass of water, but as per the woman’s complaint, suddenly he grabbed the lady from behind and asked for sexual favours, when the woman refused to do so, he allegedly threaten her to kill her with machete.
As per information received, luckily the woman’s husband came on time to rescue, seeing whom the accused Mr. H C Patra ran away from the house. Soon the matter was reported to PS Kalighat where a case was also registered.
On investigation PS Kalighat team arrested the accused from the jungles of Paschim Sagar Village on 10 April during Jungle search.
The police team was headed by SHO PS Kalighat Inspector Mr. Jeevan and Sub Inspector Mr. Sudeep Goldar and the team consisted of Head Constable Mr. Dania Kujur and Home Gaurd Mr. Arun Roy.
Central Crime Station Arrests 04 Drug Peddlars and Seizes 31 KG Meth Amphetamine Out Of Which 29 KG Recovered from Cinque Island
Port Blair, Apr 09: Central Crime Station in its continuous crackdown against illegal Narcotics trade in A&N Islands once again proved its mettle by arresting four drug peddlers and recovered 31 KGs of Meth Amphetamine contraband.
Acting on a specific intelligence regarding possession of Meth Amphetamine with S. Ablu, DRM at Van Sadan, R/o Nayabasti, Bambooflat, a trap was laid. Sustained interrogation of S. Ablu revealed involvement of 03 more persons having possession of 31 KGs of Meth Amphetamine.
According to investigation so far, Forest Guard JagdeepLal had detected 30 packets of Meth Amphetamine on Cinque Island beach, where he was performing Guard duty. He hide most of the Meth Amphetamine on the Island and gave 01 KGs Meth Amphetamine to another forest guard Sujit who has a history of consuming drugs.
Similarly, a businessman Jai Kumar had discovered 01 packet of Meth Amphetamine at KodiaGhat beach, Port Blair and had given it to Forest Guard Sujit who paid Rs. 50,000/- through cheque to Jai Kumar.
During investigation, forest Guards Jagdeep and Sujit, businessman Jai Kumar and Pvt. Worker Ablu have been arrested and a total of 31 KGs of Meth Amphetamine have been recovered from Cinque Island and Port Blair. The Cheque paid by Sujit has also been recovered. Further, investigations are on for more recoveries and arrest.
The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Sh. Jagdev Singh Yadav, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID).

Kalighat resident held for sexually assaulting a woman

Port Blair, Apr 08: Police team of PS Kalighat arrested a 40 year old man of Kalighat for sexually assaulting a woman in her house. As per information received, on 5th April the man went to his relatives’ house where he found that the woman was alone in her home.
It was learnt that the woman’s husband was working at the backyard and the lady was working in her kitchen, when the man got the opportunity to sexually assault the lady. The lady intimated the matter to her husband.
A case was registered in PS Kalighat and immediately the accused Mr. Payaka Munda was arrested by police team.
Youth arrested under POSCO Act for impregnating Minor Girl

Port Blair, Apr 06: Andaman and Nicobar Police have arrested a 25-year-old youth from Swaraj Dweep today under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) for impregnating a minor girl of South Andaman region.
It was learnt that the 17-year-old minor girl went to Hospital following some health issues, where doctors during checkup found that the girl is pregnant. Soon the matter was reported to the nearby Police Station.
According to police after investigation, the victim revealed that she was in a relationship with the accused. A POSCO case was registered regarding this matter and the accused was arrested by PS Swaraj Dweep team.
Mayabunder POCSO Court Convicts One for Life to Rape minor Sister-In-Law
Port Blair, Mar 26: The Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge -cum- Special Judge under POCSO Act, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder has sentenced one to undergo imprisonment for life for the offence under section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012 and provision under section 376 IPC and also to pay fine of Rs. 2,00,000/-.
As per details available here, the prosecution case as bring out and envisioned by the written statement lodged by the victim girl herself against the accused person before the Police Station Billiground and the factual matrix as reflected in a nut-shell is that the accused person is the brother-in-law.
The victim girl visited the house of accused in the year 2020 and when victim girl was sleeping, the culprit has committed the misdeed. The accused has committed the offence of aggravated penetrative sexual assault to his own sister-in-law and in this way the prosecution has been able to substantiate the case beyond the shadow of any reasonable doubt.
Accordingly, Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge -cum- Special Judge under POCSO Act, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder has found guilty the accused person, namely, Shri: Nando Mondal (37 years), S/o Shri. Debendranath Mondal R/o Curtburt Bay under PS Billiground and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for life for the offence under section 6 of POCSO Act, 2012 and provision under section 376 IPC and also to pay fine of Rs. 2,00,000/- (rupees two lakhs), out of which 90% amount is to be paid to the victim as compensation u/s. 357 Cr.P.C, in default of payment he will have to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year more.
For the rehabilitation of victim girl, an amount of Rs.5,00,000/- (rupees five lakhs) has been awarded as compensation as per provision u/sec. 357A read- with section 33 (8) of POCSO Act which will be paid by the Government from Government fund as provided under 7(4) of POCSO rule.
The entire case was investigated by Probationary SI Arthi Roy under the guidance of SI Deben Kumar Roy, former SHO of Police Station Billiground which was appreciated for good performance. The prosecution case was conducted by Shri. Keshab Ch. Mondal, Learned Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO) Act.
Effort to Remotely Access Computer during recruitment examination for Naviks of Coast Guard; Four ‘Mainlanders’ arrested till now

Port Blair, Mar 22: The Andaman and Nicobar Police has arrested four people, who were trying to manipulate the Recruitment Examination for Naviks of Indian Coast Guard at local private exam center.
As per details on 20 March2021, during recruitment examination for Naviks of Indian Coast Guard, being held in collaboration with C-DAC, at private computerized exam centre of Dollygunj, malpractice was detected by Indian Coast Guard observers and flying squad wherein it was found that a candidate’s computer was being remotely controlled and the answers were being logged by proxies.
Soon an FIR was filed at PS Pahargaon in this respect and the examination at Port Blair was cancelled.
Now as per information gathered by Andaman Sheekha it is learnt that two people Mr. Jintinder Mallick, 27years, from Sonipath, Haryana and Mr. Manoj Shhikara, 39 years, from Duarka, Delhi working in Delhi police as Constable had come to Port Blair in connection with the exam and had brought two candidates from Haryana namely Praveen Kumar, 19 years and Praveen Mallick.
As per details, accused Jintinder Mallick is working in Center for Development Advance Computing (C-DAC), a software company which owns contract to conduct the exam and hence police suspect that Jintinder Mallick and Manoj Shhikara planned to fix the exam by remotely accessing one computer from Delhi for both the candidates in morning and evening shifts.
However, in the morning shift only it was detected that one computer is being remotely controlled and hence an FIR was lodged in PS Pahargaon.
Soon police team of PS Pahargaon conducted thorough investigation and arrested all four accused. Further investigations are on, it is learnt.
Padauk and Pyinma timber logs seized by police from Kalighat

Port Blair, Mar 22: A jungle search operation was conducted inside the forest area of Kalighat by team of PS Kalighat, during which around 65 pieces of timber with combined size around three cubic meters were seized by police.
It was learnt that during search operation the police team found huge amount of Padauk and Pyinma timber pieces cut for illegal activities in Paschim Sagar village, Diglipur.
As per information the search operation of Kalighat police was headed by Sub Inspector Mr. P Jeevan SHO. The team consisted of head constable Mr. D Mirdha, Police Constable Mr. Jaspal Singh, Home Guard Mr. Gautam Sana and Home Guard Mr. Arun Roy. Later the seized materials were handed over to the forest officials.
One arrested from Baratang area for impregnating a minor girl

Port Blair, Mar 17: The Andaman and Nicobar Police have arrested a 20 year old youth of Baratang region for impregnating a minor girl.
As per details the minor girl had gone to Hospital with her parents following some health issues, where doctors on checkup found that the girl is pregnant. The matter was soon reported to PS Baratang.
On 15 March 2021 a POCSO case was registered in this regard and the accused youth was arrested by PS Baratang team.
Rangat Resident convicted for brutal murder of own sister

Mayabunder, Mar 15: In a recent judgment, Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder has sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life to an accused of murdering his own sister.
As per details, the victim of this case had filed a suit for partition of ancestral properties and the same suit was decreed by the civil court. For the effecting partition of decreed properties, on 28/04/2017, the fateful day, the revenue officials were preparing a rough partition plan at the house of the son of the culprit in the presence of the victim, other shareholders and police personnel.
As per case file, the culprit brother suddenly came and took out a sharp knife that he had hidden in the shirt and stabbed on the neck of the victim. The present Head Constable apprehended the culprit and forced him to drop the knife from his hand. Thereafter, the victim was shifted to CHC Rangat by PCR van. The doctor declared the victim brought dead.
The trial commenced with the framing of charge under section 302 of IPC against the accused Kartick Mondal and found him guilty on 10/03/2021 and taken into custody and remanded him to judicial custody for reflection of mind for hearing the quantum of punishment.
Considering the entire gamut of the crime and also keeping in mind the old-age etc., on 12/03/2021, Shri. Jimut Bahan Biswas, Hon’ble Additional Sessions Judge, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder has sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life for the commission of offence punishable under section 302 of IPC.
The case was investigated by Inspector P.K Abdul Arif, former SHO, PS Rangat. The prosecution case was conducted by Shri. Uttam Kirtania, Learned Additional Public Prosecutor.
Missing Minor Girl of North Andaman Village found from Kalapahad Forest after 12 days

Port Blair, Mar 14: A minor girl of North Andaman region to who went missing since 2nd March 2021 was finally found by Police team of PS Kalighat after 12 long days, from the Forest of Kalapahad area, North Andaman this morning.
According to details the minor girl had left her house and gone into forest with her 21 year old boyfriend. Sources said that the boy and girl had planned to stay inside forest for atleast one month, till the 18th Birthday of the girl.
On information, 25 member team of PS Kalighat, under the leadership of SHO SI Jeevan, conducted a massive search operation inside reserve forest area between Kishori Nagar and Kalapahar area and finally today the girl and the boy were found.
The minor girl was sent to her house by the police team while the boy was arrested by PS Kalighat under POCSO Act.
