Port Blair, May 31: Following credible information that one person is coming to Port Blair from Chennai in a fight with huge amount of Ganja, a joint team of PS Chatham and PS Aberdeen was formed headed by SI Shubham Ghosh & SI Mazumder respectively.
The team soon reached ITF Ground and checked the belonging of the passenger, Mr. Ganesh Baag, a resident of Chennai and seized 5.5 KG of Ganja.
The operation was carried out under the leadership of SDPO, South Andaman, ASP Kalaivanan R under overall supervision of Mr. Ravi Kumar, SP SA.
It is believed that more arrests are possible in this case as Mr. Ganesh is working for a Ganja Racket in Andaman.
Dead body found from Cremation Ground Sea Shore area

Port Blair, May 27: A dead body was found this evening from Junglighat cremation Ground Sea Shore area. As per source a case has been registered in Aberdeen Police Station where on investigation the body was identified as Mr. Abdul Aziz, a 42 year old Resident of Mithakhari, Ranchi Basthi.
It was learnt that a missing complaint was lodged in Police Station Ograbraj on 26 May 2021 by a family member of Mr. Abdul Aziz that Mr. Abdul Aziz was missing from 25th of May evening.
Continuous Check on Bootleggers by N&MA Police; Recovered Huge Amount of Illicit Liquor
Port Blair, May 27: Police is continuously conducting search for illicit liquor and handia in jungles and destroying them. On 26th May, a search team of PS Rangat found and destroyed 14 tins of Lahan in the jungle. Based on an information, a police team conducted search in Shyamkund jungle area of Bakultala, in which they found 14 tins dull of fermented Lahan. The police team destroyed it on the spot itself. Since the liquor shops are closed, some people have been trying to use this as an opportunity to push handia and illicit liquor into the market. Two such individuals were arrested in PS Kadamtala on 27th May for the possession of Handia. The persons were booked for the violation of Excise Regulation and a total of around 20 Kg. Handia was recovered from them.
The police appeals to general public to stay away from such locally produced spirits as it will get them into legal trouble and may also have disastrous effects on their health.
Massive Tree falls on hut, residents survive narrowly; HRS demands Inquiry
Port Blair, May 25: Due to heavy rain and gusty wind a massive tree fell on a hut at Manglutan, Guptapara Panchayat at around 12 noon belonging to Smti Anima Paul, Ex Samiti Member.
Now the State President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti has claimed that the owner had earlier submitted multiple requests to the forest department for removing the said tree but the forest department did not take any action.
Even, the proposal for cutting the tree was passed in the Gram Sabha which was communicated to Forest, APWD & Tehsil Office.
“The result of the lethargy showed by the concerned departments is that finally the tree crashed on her house and destroyed everything. It’s quite a sorry plight that a department named Disaster Management was lost in deep slumber and the public got into action themselves in cutting the tree and moving the debris. The family is now housed in nearby anganwadi as interim arrangement by the Tehsildar, Ferrargunj,” Mr. Rakeshwar Lall, the State President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti added in his letter addressed to the Lt. Governor of an A & N Islands
Mr. Lall added that with no power and mobile connectivity, the victim family somehow communicated the matter to Mr. Prakash Adhikari a social worker and him. The HRS now requested the Lt. Governor of A & N Islands to conduct an inquiry as why the permission was not accorded for cutting the tree, which posed danger to the family even after repeated requests from the family.
In addition the HRS requested to fix the responsibility for massive loss and direct the forest department to sanction compensation or fund for rebuilding of new house. The HRS also requested the Lt. Governor to sanction compensation from the LG Relief Fund.
MP demands Vaccination of Teachers on COVID-19 duty
Port Blair, May 24: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Member of Parliament, has brought to the notice of Chief Secretary that there are about 500 (five hundred) Teachers who are Corona Warriors. They visit every household and collect data. The nature of job which they are performing has very high risk of getting effected by Corona Virus. To protect these 500 (five hundred) Teachers from Corona Virus, the MP requested the Chief Secretary to provide them Covid Vaccine on priority basis, so that they are not affected by the virus and do their job smoothly.
Mayabunder resident goes missing
Port Blair, May 24: A person namely Mr. Raj Kumar alias Raju S/o Mahender Ram (37 yrs.) R/o Borang, Mayabunder is reported missing since 25/04/2021 from the residence of Mr. Domna Gari at Bamboo Level, Borang, Mayabunder in the morning between 0400 AM to 0430 AM when he went out with a light blue coloured torch light. Since, then he has not returned back.

17 year boy dead in Chouldari after tree falls on home*

Port Blair, May 23: A 17 year old boy of CARI Basti Chouldari died today after a massive tree fell on his house due to high wind at around 09.30 AM this morning.
As per sources this morning, the victim Rakesh Singh and his two brothers were present inside their house where Rakesh Singh was doing some works in the kitchen and his brothers were in hall room.
Due to strong wind a tree near their house, collapsed on their house injuring Rakesh Singh grievously while his brothers somehow managed to escape unhurt. 17 years old Rakesh Singh, a student of Class XI, GSSS Port Mort reportedly died on the spot.
As per information received here later the Police Station Ograbraj officials and Revenue Department and Ex Pradhan, Chouldari, Mr. Mohan Halder reached at the spot. Revenue officials examined the situation and a report was submitted to Thesilder.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Daily the Ex Pradhan Mr. Mohan Halder said that for today the family will stay in some neighbour’s house and by tomorrow morning, one PWD quarter will be cleaned, where they will be given temporary shelter.
Seven arrested from R K Gram, Diglipur for Gambling

Port Blair, May 21: Today evening at around 04:00 PM Police Station Diglipur received credible information that some people are gambling at RK Gram village.
On information immediately police team of Police Station Diglipur, under the leadership of Inspector N S Stalin went raided the spot in RK Gram village, where seven people were found gambling. All accused were arrested on spot and board money of Rs. 34,000 and pocket money from seven people of Rs. 48,000 were recovered. A case was registered against them and they were released on bail. One arrested for stealing cash from Donation Box of Bakultala Temple

Port Blair, May 19: Yesterday evening during regular police patrolling near Rangat Bay area, a police team of PS Rangat spotted a youth roaming around in a suspicious manner. When the police team tried to stop him, the youth tried to escape. On that the police team caught him and recovered a bag with some cash. While interrogating the youth accepted that he has stolen the amount from the donation box of a temple at Bakultala.
Soon a case has been registered against the accused Nayan Bar, 19 years, a resident of Bakultala. It is learnt that two similar cases were registered against the accused at Port Blair earlier. Further details are awaited.
Seven packets of Methamphetamine recovered from sea shore of Arong Village by PS Car Nicobar

Port Blair, May 19: On Tuesday afternoon Police Station Car Nicobar recovered seven packets of highly addictive drug Methamphetamine, (which is also known as crystal meth) worth several lakhs.
As per source on Tuesday one team of Car Nicobar Police went for sea shore patrolling, while patrolling near Arong Village of Car Nicobar, the police team identified seven packets of Methamphetamine, washed ashore by the sea waves and discovered that these packages were same package which recovered earlier from last two years which contain Drugs.
As per details, the packets were taken to Car Nicobar Police Station. Police team is carrying out further investigation.
