Port Blair, Jun 16: On 15.06.2024, Police Station Humfrygunj received a call reporting a murder at Dhanikhari. The Humfrygunj Police swiftly responded to the complaint formed a dedicated team comprising SI G. Mohan Rao, SHO PS Humfrygunj along with ASI R.C. Singh and other Police Station staff. They rushed to the scene and found the lifeless body of a resident of Chouldari.
An eye witness identified the accused as Veera Kumar, who attacked with a ‘Dah’ after a confrontation. The accused fled from the scene and made extensive efforts to hide but was apprehended within three hours by the dedicated police team of the South Andaman District. An FIR was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Humfrygunj and the crime scene was documented. Additionally, 04 individuals who harbored the accused and attempted to destroy evidence were also arrested. Further investigation is in progress.
As per sources the accused used to work as driver of the victim, who was removed from job and subsequently there used to be regular confrontations among them. As per details similar confrontation between the two on 15.06.2024, resulted in this incident.

Rape and Murder case of a minor girl of North Andaman

Port Blair, June 16: A suspected rape and murder case has been registered at PS Kalighat in which a 13 year girl of North Andaman has been reportedly murdered after rape on 12 June 2024. The body of the victim has been recovered from Kalapahad jungle or North Andaman.
As per details one 23 year old youth of the area who is suspected to be the prime accused was absconding since the incident. As per unconfirmed reports the prime accused believed to have committed suicide and his body was found yesterday from Kalapahad Jungle. One more youth has been picked up by police team and further investigation is in progress. Meanwhile, no senior officers of N & M Andaman police unit were available for a comment in this case. Police Station Hut Bay tough on Illicit Narcotics; Seizes 520 Gram Of Crystalline Methamphetamine and 230 Grams Illicit Ganja
Port Blair, June 14: Continuing the action against illegal activities in Hut Bay Jurisdiction, the Police team of Hut Bay seized huge quantity of crystalline Methamphetamine weighing 520 GRAM and 230 GRAMS Illicit Ganja. Accordingly, a case under NDPS Act registered at Police Station Hut Bay.
On 13/06/2023 at 2130 hrs., a credible information received from reliable source that one person is illegally Selling Ganja (Cannabis) and Methamphetamine from his home if raid conducted Illicit Ganja (Cannabis) and Methamphetamine can be recovered. Subsequently, the above information was passed on to SDPO Swaraj Dweep, who then directed to conduct raid immediately. Acting immediately, a Police team comprising of SI Somen Kr. Haldar, SHO PS Hut Bay, HC Arvind Kumar Kerketta, PC Anbhu Kumar, IRBn Ct Narayan, HC(D P. Thanga Durai and independent witnesses was formed under the supervision of Shri. Manasvi Vashistha, SDPO (Swaraj Dweep). The raid was conducted in presence of Shri Cherian Methew, BDO, Little Andaman and recovered the above mentioned seized articles from the Poultry Shed from the premises of accused Joydev Sarkar. The Illicit Ganja and methamphetamine tested Positive by drugs detection Kit. Then the accused Joydev Sarkar S/o Shri Asit Sarkar (32) yrs Pvt Worker R/o R.K. Pur Ward No.11, Little Andaman was arrested on 14/06/2024 at 0030hrs after observing all Codal Formalities and brought to PS Hut Bay for registration of FIR No. 34/24 dated 14/06/24 U/s 22(c)/20(b)(ii) A of NDPS Act 1985 and the investigation of case is under progress. The overall search operation was conducted under the supervision of Miss. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.

SH Solomon Samuel Promoted as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) A&N Police

Swift Response By PS Diglipur: Suspects Arrested And Stolen Goods Recovered in Sitanagar Theft
Port Blair, May 22: Two complaints regarding housebreaking and theft of household articles and a mobile phone were received from two house owners in the Sitanagar area at PS Diglipur. Subsequently, two cases under relevant sections of the IPC were registered at PS Diglipur. Acting promptly, Inspr. K Binoj formed a special investigative team led by SI Dheeraj Kishen, including SI Abdul Shakil, HC V.M. Prasad, PCs Michael Paul, Devsai Toppo, and Aboobaker Siddque, to trace the accused.
The team conducted an extensive search for the culprits involved in the theft, alerted informers, and gathered intelligence. As a result of the team’s diligent efforts, they identified a person, namely Suraj Mazumder @ Gullu, as the prime suspect, and found that a CCL (Child in conflict with Law) was also involved in the theft. Acting swiftly, they devised a plan and successfully apprehended the accused and the CCL. Following the arrest of Suraj Mazumdar, he was subjected to a thorough interrogation, during which he admitted his involvement in both thefts. As a result of the team’s diligent efforts, the stolen properties were successfully recovered from the accused.

Successful Search Operation by Campbell Bay Police Resulted in Recovery Of Narcotic Drug
Port Blair, May 16: In continuation of the firm stance of Zero Tolerance against the Drug Menace, Campbell Bay police has achieved a significant breakthrough in their ongoing efforts to curb narcotics trafficking.
In a meticulously planned jungle search operation in the Babu Line & RPRS area, the Campbell Bay police, led by Sub-Inspector Roshan George, SHO Campbell Bay, uncovered a substantial amount of unclaimed Narcotic Drugs. The dedicated task force, comprising Sub-Inspector Siva Kumar, Head Constable Meiyappan, and Police Constables Bikash Sen, Anup, and Shahir, conducted a thorough search operation aimed at detecting illicit activities in the area.
During the operation, the team ventured to the B-Quarry Sea beach where they made a huge recovery – approximately 16 kilograms of narcotics, suspected to be HEROIN.
The origin of these drugs is believed to be from international waters, indicated by a “MADE IN TAIWAN” marking on one of the seized items. The estimated value of this significant seizure is believed to exceed 50 crores.
This recovery underscores the persistent battle against narcotics trafficking in the Islands.
The entire operation was conducted under the vigilant supervision of Sh. Firoj Alam, DANIPS, SDPO, Campbell Bay, ensuring the successful execution of the mission and reflecting the commitment of the A&N Police towards maintaining peace and security in the Island.

POCSO case registered at PS Aberdeen

Port Blair, June 15: Yesterday, a shocking incident came to light as a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered at the Aberdeen Police Station in Port Blair against a resident of the South Andaman region. The accused has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old minor girl, leading to her pregnancy.
According to sources, the distressing incident came to the attention of authorities when doctors discovered the pregnancy during the girl’s medical treatment. After knowing about the news, the family immediately reported the matter to the Aberdeen Police Station. Promptly responding to the complaint, the police have initiated legal proceedings against the accused in accordance with the law. More details are awaited.
Physical Force, Water Cannon & Tear Gas used to DBRAIT disperse students

Port Blair, Sept 28: The Andaman and Nicobar Police today used physical force and water cannon to disperse students from the Dairy Farm main road area and when the police failed to do so, the department used tear gas to disperse students, leaving many students struggling to even breath and a few senseless for couple of moments.
When the Fire Service team was using water cannon on students, a lot of the general public came to safeguard the students and raised their voice against police action. Instead of giving opportunity to the students to recover, the police team used tear gas on the students.
A large number of public who were at the spot openly criticized the police and termed this as a cowardly act.
It is learnt that a few students were taken to the hospital in an ambulance after they developed health issues due to use of tear gas.
South Andaman District Police Solves Burglary Case and Arrests Six Persons
Port Blair, Mar 31: In continuation of the zero tolerance policy against any kind of crime, PS Aberdeen staff have cracked the Aberdeen Bazaar Hotel burglary case and recovered 2 Nos. I-Phones worth Rs. 1.17 Lakhs and Rs. 20,700/- cash.
On 21/03/2022, a case vide FIR No. 67/22 U/s 457/380 IPC was registered at PS Aberdeen and investigation was entrusted to SI Regan Isaac of PS Aberdeen. The case was initially a blind case of theft of Rs. 2 Lakhs of cash from the Hotel Beach Castle, Aberdeen Bazaar. However, working professionally, the team collected technical evidence in the form of CCTV footage, CDRs and identified the accused person. Based on the investigation, a total of 06 persons have been arrested for their involvement in the crime. The team of PS Aberdeen led by SI Regan Isaac (Investigating Officer), HC/Sunil Singh Yadav, PC/S.N Rao, PC/Sandeep Lakra, PC/Sonu Yadav, PC/Ashish Kumar and PC/Shiv Kumar under the supervision of Insp. R.K Mazumder, I/c PS Aberdeen cracked the case and recovered 2 Nos. I-Phones worth Rs. 1.17 Lakhs and Rs. 20,700/- cash. The details of the accused persons are

5. Lokhnath Halder, 21yrs, Cook at Janaki fast food R/o South 24 Parganas, west Bengal. Now presently at Janaki fast food stall at PBMC Food court Aberdeen Bazaar.

26-year-old youth, absconding in POCSO case arrested

Port Blair, Mar 10: A 26-year-old youth accused in a POCSO case, who was reportedly absconding from past three Days, was arrested by PS Nancowry today.
The accused is a resident of Kamorta and was nabbed today by PS Nancowry from Chota Enaka, Kamorta.
The accused has been kept under transit remand at PS Nancowry and later will be produced in Court, it is learnt.
