Port Blair, Jan 21: In order to ensure containment measures of isolation and social distancing in the South Andaman District and with strategic intervention focusing on containment, test, track, surveillance, clinical management, vaccination and Covid Appropriate Behaviour to control any surge of the cases of COVID-19 strict enforcement drive was carried out by the District Administration in all the places of South Andaman District.
The Flying Enforcement team constituted in all Tehsils of South Andaman District by the District Magistrate comprising of Revenue and Police officials imposed fines for violation of COVID protocols and not following proper guidelines such as wearing of face mask and not maintaining social distance in premises of all Market areas of South Andaman including Little Andaman, Swaraj Dweep and Shaheed Dweep under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, South Andaman.
The enforcement team imposed challans at the market places and an amount of Rs. 93,400/- (Rupees Eighty nine Thousand only) was remitted to government treasury till date.
The District Magistrate, South Andaman has iterated that strict actions shall be enforced from now onwards for violations of Covid-19 guidelines and that awareness teams have also been formed to encourage people to follow anti-coronavirus measures. He further added that it is imperative to maintain a strict watch on the situation with focus on district level and sub-district level.
The general public has also been requested to co-operate with the Administration to curb the spread of the pandemic by following the Covid-19 guidelines meticulously keeping in view of upcoming festivals and that the flexibilities being allowed and activities being permitted across the District must be done in a calibrated and cautious manner.

Vaccination drive continuing smoothly in A&N Islands
Port Blair, Jan 21: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,02,704 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 18,983 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 4076.
A total of 636 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in A&N Islands today. 457 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 63 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18years,29 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years and the number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine stood at 220.
68 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District, out of which, 18 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years, 5 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years and the number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine stood at 28.
111beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which,91 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years, 2 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years and the number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine stood at 14.

Port Blair, Jan 20: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,02,502 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 18,811 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 3814.
A total of 694 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in A&N Islands today. 527 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 49 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years, 61 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years and the number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine stood at 225.
83 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District, out of which, 20 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years, 7 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years and the number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine stood at 39.
84 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which, 51 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while the number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine stood at 33.
6,02,225 beneficiaries vaccinated so far in A&N Islands
Port Blair, Jan 19: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,02,225 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 18,691 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 3517.
A total of 715 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in A&N Islands today. 585 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 108 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 63 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years. 84 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District, out of which, 29 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 7 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years. 46 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which, 13 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 1 beneficiary was in the age group of 18-44years.
6,01,026 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above vaccinated so far in A&N Islands
Port Blair, Jan 16: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,01,026 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 18,126 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 2619.
A total of 147 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in A&N Islands today. 107 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 51 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 23 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years. 40 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District, out of which, 19 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 08 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years.
District Administration of South Andaman comes to the rescue of stranded students; Hostels arranged till next sailing

Port Blair, Jan 13: Coming to the rescue of students of Southern Group of Islands, who are stranded at Port Blair due to unavailability of ships, the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman today arranged their lodging and boarding in Boys’ as well as Girls’ Hostels of JNRM, till the sailing of ships for Southern group of Islands.
After closure of colleges, many students from Campbell Bay and other remote Islands are stranded at Port Blair. Many of these students are from MGGC, Mayabunder.
Around 50 students of Mayabunder College (MGGC) left their college hostel after getting the notice of closure of colleges on 12th January 2022 and came to Port Blair so that they can travel back to their respective homes. Later due to unavailability of ships they found themselves stranded at Port Blair.
This morning around 7-9 students reportedly met the Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner/SDM of South Andaman and demanded to arrange ships as early as possible after which they were immediately provided accommodation by the District Administration of South Andaman.
As per sources, after a few crew members of MV Sindhu were tested positive, they were quarantined and this is why MV Sindhu can’t be scheduled for Nicobar District in next few days.
68 New COVID-19 cases reported in A & N Islands, Total 461 Active Cases
Port Blair, Jan. 13: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 223 passengers who arrived here yesterday, 38 positive cases have been detected. Today, 14 flights with 647 passengers arrived, out of which, 499 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 148 passengers (includes 2 foreign travelers) and the reports are awaited.
Meanwhile as per latest updates, 68 new cases were found today, out of which 38 were Airport arrival and 30 are contacts. Meanwhile, 86 people were discharged today, which takes the total tally of COVID-19 active cases to 461.
During RAT conducted on 50 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, one positive case has been detected. At Mohanpura Bus Terminus, test was conducted on 45 passengers, one positive case has been detected. At Phoenix Bay Jetty, 34 passengers were tested with RAT, two positive cases have been detected. At Helipad, 1 passenger was tested with RAT and was found negative.

Similarly, 17,342 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine today stood at 1853.
A total of 1509 people were vaccinated today. 559 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 223 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 102 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years. Similarly, 415 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District, out of which, 297 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 97 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years. 139 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which, 90 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 38 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years.

As per data available, a total of 5,99, 832 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 16,732 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000. The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine today stood at 1457.
A total of 1487 people were vaccinated today. 590 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 228 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 163 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years. Similarly, 146 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District, out of which, 98 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 27 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years. 179 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which, 157 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 16 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years.

As per data available, a total of 5,98,587 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 15,362 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000. A total of 2639 people were vaccinated today. 1540 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 845 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 293 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years. Similarly, 574 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District, out of which, 447 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 97 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years. 151 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which, 131 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years while 16 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years.
