Port Blair, Feb 07: The Election Commission for UTs has called upon all for General Elections in constituencies of all Gram Panchayats (except Gram Panchayats of Netaji Nagar and Hutbay), Panchayat Samities, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman and Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman and all wards of Port Blair Municipal Council notification of which has been issued on 04th of February 2022 by the Administrator of the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The First Level Checking of all EVMs going for polls in all wards of Port Blair Municipal Council were carried out in the presence of various political parties at the Strong Room of District Election Officer, South Andaman situated behind ITF Ground.
The Warehouse of the District Election Officer, South Andaman was opened in the presence of representatives of political parties and Balloting units as well as the Control units were transported to the Strong Room and FLC process was initiated.
Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director (Panchayat and Municipal Elections) inspected the ongoing FLC proceedings at the Strong Room at ITF ground personally and expressed satisfaction.
COVID-19 status in A&N Islands
Port Blair, Feb. 06: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 148 passengers who arrived here yesterday, 5 positive cases have been detected. Today, 6 flights with 856 passengers arrived, out of which, 716 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted 124 on passengers(5 foreign travellers) and the reports are awaited.
During RAT conducted on 47 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, no positive case has been detected. At Mohanpura Bus Terminus, test was conducted on 42 passengers, no positive cases have been detected. At Phoenix Bay Jetty, 5 passengers were tested with RAT, one positive case has been detected.

Port Blair, Feb. 6: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,05,113 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 22,720 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000.The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 6654. Today, a total of 57 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District, out of which, 2 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years.

Port Blair, Feb. 04: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 6,04,916 beneficiaries in the age group of 18 and above have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. Similarly, 22,681 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the age group of 15 to 18 years against the target beneficiaries of 23,000.The number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine so far stood at 6421.
A total of 3182 eligible beneficiaries were vaccinated in A&N Islands today. 2368 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 268 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years, 33 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44years and the number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine stood at 185.
558 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District, out of which, 8 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18 years and the number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine stood at 44.
256 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which, 11 beneficiaries were in the age group of 15-18years and the number of beneficiaries administered precautionary dose of vaccine stood at 14.
Classes for Std. VI, VII , VIII & IX in schools of A&N Islands to reopen on alternate day basis from Feb. 8
Port Blair, Feb.4: Consequent on approval accorded by Competent Authority, Classes for Std. VI, VII , VIII & IX in all management (Govt., Govt. Aided, Private Unaided and Local Body) schools across Islands will reopen on alternate day basis with effect from 8th February, 2022 subject to certain conditions. All educational institutions have been directed to follow all COVID protocol and ensure COVID Appropriate Behavior. Students will be permitted to attend school only with the written consent of parents/guardian. Physical attendance will not be compulsory and online instructions via the existing mode will continue. Meanwhile, for classes I to V teaching through existing online mode shall continue as usual.
Specific directions and standard operating procedures to be followed in the schools have been communicated to all the schools through Zonal Officers in order to comply with the COVID-19 protocols as well as to prevent the threat of spread of COVID-19.

Port Blair, Feb. 3: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 125 passengers who arrived here yesterday, 4 positive cases have been detected. Today, 5 flights with 621passengers arrived, out of which, 499 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 122 passengers (4foreign travellers) and the reports are awaited.
During RAT conducted on 25 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, no positive case has been detected. At Mohanpura Bus Terminus, test was conducted on 43 passengers, two positive cases have been detected. At Phoenix Bay Jetty, 23 passengers were tested with RAT, no positive case has been detected. Today, till 3 pm, 221 eligible persons were vaccinated out of which 198 were of 15-18 beneficiaries.

Today, 7 flights with 578 passengers arrived, out of which, 445 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 125 passengers (1 foreign traveller) and the reports are awaited.
During RAT conducted on 40 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, no positive case has been detected. At Mohanpura Bus Terminus, test was conducted on 34 passengers, no positive case has been detected. At Helipad, 9 passengers were tested with RAT, no positive case has been detected. Today, till 3 pm, 233 eligible persons were vaccinated.
COVID-19 status in A&N Islands: One out of 140 Airport Passengers tested COVID-19 positive
Port Blair, Feb. 01: During the RT-PCR test conducted on 140 passengers who arrived here yesterday, 1positive case has been detected. Today, 5 flights with 393 passengers arrived, out of which, 336 passengers were vaccinated with both doses while RT-PCR test was conducted on 50 passengers (3 foreign travellers) and the reports are awaited.
During RAT conducted on 36 passengers bound for North & Middle Andaman at Ferrargunj, one positive case has been detected. At Mohanpura Bus Terminus, test was conducted on 26 passengers, no positive case has been detected. At Phoenix Bay Jetty, 41 passengers were tested with RAT, two positive cases have been detected. At Helipad, 9 passengers were tested with RAT, one positive case has been detected.
