Port Blair, Aug, 21: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 3,33,520 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands, out of the target beneficiaries of 2,81,603 (approx.). A total of 2595 people were vaccinated today in A&N Islands. A total of 122,328 eligible people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated till date.
2426 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which 1820 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years. Similarly, 135 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District.34 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which 10 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years.
1822 people vaccinated today in A&N Islands
Port Blair, Aug, 18: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 3,30,925 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands, out of the target beneficiaries of 2,81,603 (approx.). A total of 1822 people were vaccinated today in A&N Islands. A total of 1,20,498 eligible people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated till date.
1492 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which 911 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years. Similarly, 308 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman District.22 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which 3 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years.
Three flights with 483 passengers arrived today at Port Blair; No COVID Cases: Secretary IP&T

Port Blair, Aug 18: The Secretary IP&T, Mr. Sunil Kumar Singh, today said that today altogether three flights with 483 passengers arrived at Port Blair Airport and all passengers have undergone RT-PCR test, the results for today’s RT-PCR are awaited.
While addressing the COVID-19 media briefing today at IP&T Conference hall he pointed out that among passengers who arrived yesterday (Tuesday), no passenger was found COVID-19 positive at the RT-PCR test.
The Secretary further informed that 263 persons (travelers) bound for N&M Andaman were tested at Ferrargunj in which all persons were tested COVID-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and at Mohanpura Bus stand altogether 196 people were tested in which none of them found COVID-19 positive during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
“At phoenix Bay jetty total 165 passengers travelling to Swaraj Dweep were tested in which all were found Covid-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Today altogether 500 beneficiaries got vaccinated by 04:00 PM at JNRM Vaccination center,” he added.
Four flights with 556 passengers arrived today: Secretary IP&T

Port Blair, Aug 17: The Secretary IP&T, Mr. Sunil Kumar Singh, today said that altogether four flights with 556 passengers arrived today at Port Blair Airport and all passengers have undergone RT-PCR test, the results for today’s RT-PCR are awaited.
While addressing the COVID-19 media briefing today at IP&T Conference hall he pointed out that among passengers who arrived yesterday (Monday), no passengers were found COVID-19 positive at the RT-PCR test.
The Secretary further informed that 233 persons (travelers) bound for N&M Andaman was tested at Ferrargunj in which all persons were tested COVID-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and passengers of MV Chouldari were also tested today which was returning from Port Blair to Shaheed Dweep, altogether 83 people were tested in which all were found COVID-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and at Mohanpura Bus stand 156 RAT was conducted in which all were found COVID-19 negative.
“At Phoenix Bay jetty, 74 passengers travelling to Swaraj Dweep were tested in which all were found Covid-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT)”, he said.
“Today altogether 553 beneficiaries got vaccinated by 04:00 PM in which 400 were under the 18-44 age groups who got their first dose of vaccine, ” he added.
1623 people vaccinated today in A&N Islands
Port Blair, Aug 17: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 3,29,103 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands, out of the target beneficiaries of 2, 81, 603 (approx.). A total of 1623 people were vaccinated today in A&N Islands. A total of 119,584 eligible people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated till date.
1108 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which 701 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years. Similarly, 451 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman Districtout of which 241 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44.64 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which 17 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years.
District Administration felicitates civil society organisations and social activists
Port Blair, Aug 16: As a token of appreciation for the support and assistance of civil society organisations and social activists to the administration, a felicitation program was conducted at the Zilla Parishad Conference Hall by the District Administration.
Shri Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA), SDM, AC(S), and AC(U/T) handed over medal of appreciation to these organisations and activists. The DC (SA) expressed gratitude for their work and applauded them for their selfless contribution during the pandemic.
Social activists and civil society organisations have helped and worked in coordination with District Administration during the COVID pandemic. They have provided ration kits to the daily wage earners and needy families who were out of employment due to the prevailing pandemic situation so that none of the families slept empty stomach in the District.
One of their major contribution to the administration is motivating the people to come and take vaccines in the sub-centres and also setting up of vaccination camps in different locations so that it becomes accessible to everyone including in rural areas and in inter islands. Accommodating the socio-religious sentiments of Muslim community during the Ramzan period special evening vaccination camps were organised by the Civil Society Organisation in coordination with the Administration.
They have extended their help in cremation of COVID patients following the protocols of COVID issued by Administration. Through the initiative of‘feed the inexpressive’, they helped feeding street dogs and stray animals which otherwise were in destitute state due to lockdown.
Their contribution to blood donation and fulfilling requirements of Blood Bank as and when required through volunteers is commendable. They helped administration reach every nook and corner of the district, be it in ration distribution, medicine distribution, and providing any possible service to the people of South Andaman District.
The District Administration appreciates and recognises the efforts put in by these civil society organisations and social activists who have done exemplary work in providing a helping hand to the Administration towards COVID-19 management in the District. The DC (SA) requested them to kindly support the Administration in the same way so that our actions become more efficient and effective and reach out to every person in the District.
2158 people vaccinated today in A & N Islands
Port Blair, Aug, 16: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per data available, a total of 3,27,480 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands, out of the target beneficiaries of 2,81,603 (approx.). Today in A&N Islands, a total of 2158 people were vaccinated. A total of 118,625 eligible people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated till date.
1473 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which 993 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years. Similarly, 640 beneficiaries were vaccinated in North & Middle Andaman Districtout of which 535 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44.45 beneficiaries were vaccinated in Nicobar District, out of which 15 beneficiaries were in the age group of 18-44 years.
No Passenger in Mainland of Local Sector found COVID-19 positive: Secretary IP&T

The Secretary further informed that 309 persons (travelers) bound for N&M Andaman was tested at Ferrargunj in which all persons were tested COVID-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and passengers of MV Chouldari were also tested today which was returning from Port Blair to Shaheed Dweep, altogether 83 people were tested in which all were found COVID-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
“At phoenix Bay jetty total 78 passengers travelling to Swaraj Dweep was tested in which all were found Covid-19 negative during Rapid Antigen Test (RAT)”, he said.
“Today altogether 753 beneficiaries got vaccinated by 04:00 PM in which 713 were under the 18-44 age groups who got their first dose of vaccine, ” he added.
Deputy Director GB Pant Hospital, Dr. Amitabha De informed that at GB Pant Hospital one COVID-19 patient is admitted and no patient is on oxygen support and at Covid Care Center no patient is admitted, he added.
Independence Day Celebrations in A&N Islands
Port Blair, Aug 13: Every year on 15th August, the Nation celebrates its Independence Day with grandeur, gaiety, fervour and enthusiasm. This year being the 75th year of our independence, the Day will be celebrated in a manner befitting the occasion, however with some extra precaution and measures in view of the COVID-19 situation.
The Govt. of India has issued guidelines for the conduct of the Independence Day celebrations as per the COVID -19 protocols by ensuring social distancing, wearing of masks, proper sanitisation, avoiding large gatherings, protecting vulnerable persons etc.
In the A&N Islands, as per the tradition, the National Flag would be hoisted at all Govt. offices/institutions including schools, dispensaries, post offices etc.,the National Flag will also be hoisted at Gram Panchayats level.
The Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Island will grace the UT level function at Netaji Stadium, Port Blair and will hoist the National Flag at 09:14am after laying wreath at the ‘Martyr’s Column’ at the National Memorial – Cellular Jail. The parade and guard of honour will comprise of the armed contingents of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and the A&N Police alongwith their bands. In view of the COVID-19 situations no public or school children will take part in the ceremony. In a tribute to the Corona Warriors, the ceremony will also be attended by one representative each of COVID-19 warriors namely Doctors, Health Workers, Sanitary workers and one COVID-19 cured person.
Further the Victory Flame to commemorate the 50 years of victory of 1971 Indo Pak war which is being carried throughout the islands shall also be placed on the dais.
The pre-Independence Day – 2021 address of the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to the residents of A&N Islands will be broadcasted/telecasted on the AIR/Doordarshan as per the below mentioned programme.
