Port Blair, Oct 29: As Samaritans, the Indian Coast Guard Station Hut Bay, under the aegis of Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (Andaman & Nicobar), conducted a medical camp at the Sub Centre of Farm Tekrey, Hut Bay on 27 Oct 12. The camp consisted of the medical team of Indian Coast Guard Station Hut Bay led by Surg Lt Kishore Kumar, Medical Officer ICGS Hut Bay. The camp was inaugurated by the UP Pramukh Little Andaman Mr Joga Rao in presence of Commandant D Singh, Station Commander, Indian Coast Guard Station Hut Bay and Dr Helen, CMO PHC Hut Bay.
The camp is a part of the philanthropist drive undertaken by the unit to provide an opportunity to the islanders residing in the far flung areas across the Islands with quality treatment and free of cost medication. The camp targeted the school going children as they are most vulnerable to any disease. A general Heath checkup including screening and treatment of common ailments viz respiratory and nutritional deficiency was undertaken for the school going children. Thereafter, medicines were also distributed to the children. Approximately 200 Islanders availed the opportunity of the camp.
The camp was provided with the whole hearted support from the Primary Health Centre, Hut Bay staff including the Auxiliary Nurse’s Midwife of the Subcentre. The philanthropist measure undertaken by the Coast Guard was highly appreciated by the Islanders.
