Port Blair, Feb 14: The Kadamtala region of Middle Andaman is facing severe fuel crisis since last nearly four to six weeks. According to details there are altogether three private fuel outlets in Kadamatala region but due to some documentation problems none of the outlet are allowed to sell fuel to public, at present.
Hence public of the region have now two choices, which is either to drive upto Rangat to fill fuel from Rangat Petrol pump or to buy petrol in black, which costs around Rs. 100 to Rs. 150 per liter.
Sadly even in case of urgent need one can’t get fuel in Kadamtala region easily as at Rangat Petrol pump petrol is not issuing fuel to public without vehicle. Which means, in case if fuel runs dry in someone’s vehicle, he has to urge someone else to get fuel from Rangat Petrol Pump and then transfer fuel from his vehicle to the stranded vehicle. However easiest way is to buy fuel illegally in black.
The proposed ANIIDCO petrol pump of Kadamtala is under construction and as per details it may take one more year to complete the construction work of the petrol pump. Islanders of the region urge the Administration to make some arrangements for regular supply of fuel to public till the ANIIDCO petrol pump is ready.
