Port Blair, Dec 29: The meeting of State Transport Workers’ Union , recently noted with concern that the Director of Transport, Andaman & Nicobar Administration has served Show Cause Notice dt. 21.12.2020 to 115 workers threatening to disengage who are party to the Award dt. 30.01.2020 in I.D. Case No. 3 of 2017.
As per Award all the workers party to the case are to be regularised with immediate effect. The workers have been given show cause notice for approaching Learned Labour Court through the union for regularisation of service. The Director of Transport has been threatening workers of the Union, that he would transfer and dismiss their services.
The meeting noted that the action of the Director of Transport issuing Show Cause notice to workers for approaching Learned Labour Court through the union is serious threat Trade Union Right under Industrial Dispute Act, 1947 and he wants to turn the worker into slave. The meeting urged the Administration to restrain the Director of Transport’s high handedness and advise him to act within the parameter of legal framework, a release said.
