Port Blair, August 27: A lot of Islanders are stranded both in South Andaman District and also in Nicobar District since recent lockdown. Many are trying desperately to reach either in Port Blair from Nicobar District or reach Nicobar District from South Andaman District.
In this regard to get more clarity on this issue when Andaman Sheekha contacted Mr. Kishore Kshirsagar, the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar, he informed that as of now there will be no movement of passengers except for the transportation of essential goods and services, until the situation in Port Blair gets improved and become stabled.
“When it becomes favourable, only the negative tested passengers for Covid-19 approved by the administration will be able to board on ships so as to ensure that the people after reaching their respective places, following the quarantine guidelines. Therefore it is a request to islanders who are away from their places to have patience and hope for the best” he added.
He further informed that, the ones who are in desperate need to travel, may contact their respective Assistant Commissioner and may also share their name and details with the respective Pradhan or Captain so that they could further forward the consolidated list to the administration.
Mr.Kshirsagar further appealed public through Andaman Sheekha, to avoid unnecessary travels and make sure that one is following the safety guidelines as well.
