Port Blair, July 13: One year old Vikash Kumar Rai, perhaps doesn’t know what has happened to him. Why he is in constant discomfort and why he has been brought to some strange place, away from home.
Admitted in Children Ward of G B Pant Hospital the one year old is suffering from suspected Lymphoblastic Lymphoma
In medical terms Lymphoblastic Lymphoma is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that mainly affects children and teenagers. It is similar to a condition called acute lymphoblasticleukaemia. Lymphoma starts when white blood cells, called lymphocytes, become abnormal and grow in an uncontrolled way.
Such heavy definition is beyond the knowledge of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Vaidhyanath Roy, who are presently running from pillar to post to collect some money for the treatment of the one year old.
The child has been referred to Mainland for specialized treatment under ANISHI scheme and they will be given ship tickets fare for travelling to mainland.
Considering the condition of the child it is however said by many that the child must be taken by flight so that treatment can be started as early as possible.
A kind hearted person has anyhow arranged money for the airfare from Port Blair to Mainland by tomorrow’s flight but the problem is even if the treatment cost is given by the Administration, the old grandparents have no money for the food and other needs in mainland hospital. No one knows how long the treatment will continue at Mainland.
According to Mr. Vaidhyanath Roy his son is an alcoholic and has no earning and this is the reason why he has to run here and there for every single need. By profession and priest Mr. Vaidhyanath Roy has no savings. Talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Vaidhyanath Roy has requested all readers to come forward and donate some amount so that they could meet the expense of food and other things at Mainland during treatment.
Old grandparents and the child will be travelling to mainland tomorrow. Those who are willing to help may kindly call Mr. Vaidhyanath Roy directly @ 9679511507. Readers can also contact Editor of Andaman Sheekha @ 9932082892 for any information.
People of these islands have always come forward to help the needy. Hopefully in this case also the one year old will get enough financial and love from all Islanders.
