Port Blair, Jan 19: Six year old Priyanka doesn’t know how class rooms of a school look like. She can’t even go out for playing with other kids. Since her childhood her father and mother are her only companions.
When she was two years old Doctors detected a hole in her heart and because of this she can’t go out and lead a normal life. It is difficult for her to play and even to speak much. Her mother, Karuna Das remains always with Priyanka because without warning Priyanka often develops complications and complains breathlessness.
It’s been four years and father of Priyanka, Mr. Ramakrishna is doing everything which is possible to save some money for her treatment. He works as a driver in a local grocery shop and drives Auto, after duty hours but with the salary of a driver it is impossible for him to save Rs. 2.5 Lakhs for her daughter’s treatment. If other expenditures of travelling are calculated the treatment will cost them more than Rs. 3 Lakhs.
Four years back a local politician had asked them to go to a Mainland Hospital assuring them that the money will reach them soon but that money never reached and hence they had to come back.
Therefore, only thing they can do now is to wait and wait for a miracle.
The Lt. Governor was kind enough to sanction Rs. 1 Lakh for the treatment of Priyanka but with 1 Lakh it is impossible to get her treated at Mainland.
Priyanka is being taught basic English and Maths by her mother in her house.
“She says that she wants to go to school and play with others like a normal child. She asks me when she will be fine. I have no answers,” says Karuna, Priyankas Mother.
The family has been waiting for four years for the treatment of Priyanka. Parents of Priyanka now request general public to come forward and help them to get her daughter treated in Mainland Hospital.
Those who are willing to help Priyanka to win the battle against the Cyanotic heart disease can contact Andaman Sheekha @ 9932082892. The can also contact father of the girl directly @ 9679579316. Even small contribution in this regard will matter much for little Priyanka.
