Port Blair, Sept.1: The Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Shri K Ganeshan laid the foundation stones for the three works of PBMC at Buniyadabad and Delanipur ward No.3 here today, in the presence of Shri I P Singh, Sr. Vice Chairperson, Smt. P Bharathi, Jr. Vice Chairperson and councilors of PBMC. The works for which the foundation stones were laid include construction of Sanitary Site Office and a Senior Citizens’ park at Buniyadabad ward No.3 as also the extension of multipurpose hall and parking place at Delanipur ward No.3.
After laying the foundation stones for these works, the Chairperson informed that sanitary site office will be constructed in every ward of the Council, with the objectives of improving sanitation in the respective wards. He also informed that the sanctioned sanitary latrines, the construction of which could not be started owing to some hindrances, will be looked into in due course.
About the extension of the multipurpose hall, Shri Ganeshan said that it was felt necessary to provide basic indoor sports facilities to the youth of the area. The extension work of the multipurpose hall, once completed, will house indoor games for the benefit of the youth; he said and expressed gratitude to all Councilors for the support in sanctioning the works. The function was attended by residence of the area who gathered in large number.
