Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 6: The Health Department under the Directorate of Health Services has conducted a campaign to reduce edible oil consumption by 10%, promoting healthier lifestyles and mitigating associated health risks. As part of this initiative, Shri Yusuf, Health Educator, led a health talk at OPD Complex of G.B Pant Hospital, highlighting the importance of mindful oil consumption.
The session educated attendees on the health risks of excessive oil intake, including obesity and cardiovascular diseases, and provided practical tips for moderation:
• Limit oil purchases – Buy in fixed, controlled quantities.
• Use a measuring spoon – Ensures portion control.
• Rotate different oils – Ensures a balanced nutrient intake.
• Avoid reusing oil – Prevents formation of harmful substances.
• Limit butter and ghee – Reduces saturated fat consumption.
• Adopt a healthy diet – Promotes overall well-being.
The Health Department encourages the general public to adopt these measures to achieve the campaign’s 10% reduction goal, lowering the risk of lifestyle-related diseases and maintain a healthy lifestyle. These initiatives will continue through awareness programs, community outreach, and expert talks.
