Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 22: The Wipro Earthian Regional Recognition Event 2024-25, organized by the C.P.R. Environmental Education Centre (CPREEC), Port Blair, in collaboration with the Science Wing of the Department of Education, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, and supported by the Wipro Foundation, Bengaluru, was successfully conducted at the TGCE Auditorium, Middle Point.
The event marked the culmination of the Earthian Sustainability Education Programme, an initiative by CPREEC in partnership with Wipro Foundation, aimed at promoting innovative, project-based learning on sustainability, with a focus on water and biodiversity conservation.
The programme involved schools across South India, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Pondicherry, Goa, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Teachers were oriented through workshops, student interactions, school visits, and value addition activities. From the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, 111 project submissions were received, out of which 20 projects were recognized as Regional Winners, representing schools such as: Mahatma Gandhi International School, Saraswati Shishu Mandir SSS, GSS Shibpur, Kamaraj English Medium School, Carmel Senior Secondary School, Nirmala Senior Secondary School, GSS Delanipur, Ummat Public School, Govt. Secondary School Durgapur, Crescent Public School, GSS Pinaki Nagar (EM), Government Middle School, Govind Nagar, PM SHRI GSSS Subhashgram, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Lamba Line, GMS Rabindra Nagar, Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The event commenced at 11:55 AM with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Mr. Vikram Singh, Director, Department of Education, A&N Administration. Welcome Address: Delivered by Mr. R.K. Pandey, Science Consultant, DDE (Sc.), Department of Education. Introduction to Wipro-Earthian Awards: Presented by Mr. A. Gopal, Project Officer, CPREEC, ANI, Student Presentations: Students and teachers shared their innovative projects and experiences on environmental sustainability.
The Earthian Regional Winner 2024-25 Awards were conferred by Mr. Vikram Singh, recognizing the exemplary efforts of schools in fostering sustainability education. In his address, Mr. Vikram Singh commended the dedication of students and teachers in addressing environmental challenges and emphasized the need for nurturing future leaders with a strong commitment to sustainability.
The event also featured felicitation addresses by Mr. Gyan Sheel Dubey, Head of Office, and Mr. Ram Parvesh, Deputy Director (Sc.), Department of Education, who lauded the efforts of participants and encouraged continued involvement in sustainability initiatives. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. A. Gopal. The event demonstrated the collaborative efforts of CPREEC, Wipro Foundation, and the Department of Education in empowering students and educators to contribute meaningfully to environmental conservation. The success of the Wipro Earthian Programme continues to inspire schools across regions to embrace innovative sustainability practices.
