Mayabunder, Oct 25: Mr. Abdul Siddique, Ex-Pramukh of Mayabunder, has brought attention to critical issues at the ANIDCO petrol pump located in Panighat, Mayabunder. In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary cum Chairman of ANIDCO and the Managing Director, Siddique has highlighted the longstanding complaints from citizens regarding delays at the petrol pump.
According to the letter, the delay occurs when oil tankers arrive from Port Blair at the Panighat pump. The petrol pump staff inform the public that fuel will only be issued once the tankers complete their fuel disposal process, forcing residents to wait for hours. This situation, which has been ongoing for years, has led to much frustration among the general public, with complaints pointing towards mismanagement by the authorities.
The letter also raises concerns about the deteriorating condition of the petrol pump, specifically citing the need for urgent repairs to the floor, which is in a dilapidated state. Additionally, Mr. Siddique has called for the installation of CCTV cameras to improve monitoring and a proper roofing system for the convenience of the public, especially during harsh weather.
With Mayabunder being located 70 to 80 km away from the nearest petrol pumps in Rangat and Diglipur, the issues at Panighat are of even greater concern, particularly during emergencies when residents are forced to wait for extended periods.
Mr. Siddique has requested immediate intervention from the authorities to resolve these problems and ensure a more efficient and smoother service at the petrol pump. He emphasized that addressing the concerns would greatly benefit the public, alleviating the stress and inconvenience caused by the current conditions.
The people of Mayabunder await a prompt and favorable response to these pressing issues.
