Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 18: On the occasion of the 40th foundation day of Mahila Congress, the A&N Mahila Congress launched a membership drive aligned with the campaign initiated by the All India Mahila Congress on15.09.2024. A dedicated website was introduced for the membership drive, which commenced nationwide. The campaign allows women to join online. Upon completing the membership process, a certificate is issued immediately online, ensuring transparency and upholding the dignity of women.
Mrs. Alka Lamba, National President of All India Mahila Congress, conveyed an encouraging message at the Congress office, urging women to actively participate in the membership campaign, which will be conducted at the state, district, block, and booth levels.
As part of this initiative, Ms. V. K. Mariyam Bibi, Coordinator N&M Andaman Mahila Congress, organized a membership drive at Shore Point Community Hall on 17th September 2024, where more than 200 women participated in the membership drive program. She emphasized the goal of enrolling as many members as possible to strengthen the party.
While speaking on the occasion Mr. Rang Lal, President ANTCC appreciated the efforts taken by Ms Mariyam bibi in organising such a program where more number of women have joined in the Mahila Congress membership drive .Senior Mahila Congress leader Mrs. Shanta Laxman Singh, speaking on the occasion, appealed to women to come forward for justice and their rights. Mrs. Neelaveni, President A&N Mahila Congress emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment through maximum participation.
Other prominent speakers included Mr. G. Basker, Chairman , campaigning committee, Mrs. Puspanjali Raju, Vice President Mahila Congress; Mrs. Reva, General Secretary Mahila Congress, Mrs. Ratna Kannan Coordinator Nicobar Mahila Congress Mrs. Zubaida , Cordinator South Andaman Mahila Congress, Mrs. Malti Mondal, senior leader of Mahila Congress. Mr. Abhi Bushan Gosh Vice- President Youth Congress also attended the program
The program was attended by several senior women’s Congress leaders and workers, including Mrs. Padmavathi Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti Ferrargunj; Mrs. Naseema, Pradhan Bambooflat 2; Mrs. Rasheeda Bibi, Pradhan Hopetown; and Panchayat Samiti members from Wimberlygunj, Mannarghat, Bambooflat, and Hopetown, along with PRI members of various Gram Panchayats.
The event marked a significant step towards empowering women and strengthening their participation in the political landscape.
