Port Blair, Nov 12 : The Deputy Commissioner, Shri Suneel Anchipaka along with Secretary (Shipping), ADM, SP (CID), Director (Tourism) and Director (Shipping) and other officials of Revenue and Shipping department had recently conducted a surprise visit to the Haddo Wharf and ticket counter at Phoenix Bay after receiving several complaints with regard to the problems being faced by the passengers.
The DC(SA) after hearing to the problems of the passengers made several decisions on the spot to mitigate the problems of the passengers availing the ship facilities from Port Blair to different islands.
In this regard the District Administration in an attempt to reduce the time lag being faced by the passengers intending to board the vessel from Haddo Wharf to Southern group of Islands has now decided to send a detailed SMS to each passenger on their registered mobile regarding the status of their RTPCR test report and the S.No. in the test list. This will reduce the time for verification of the passengers for issue of tickets at the Wharf. It has also been decided to increase the number of staffs at the Wharf for verification of the list for making the movement of passengers of the inter islands hassle free.
The DC(SA) reiterated that the District Administration is fully committed to improve the facilities for the passengers and welcomes suggestions from the general public for further improvement of the same.
