Port Blair, Sep 17: In a rather interesting development, a Crocodile was caught from Chouldari Dam area by Wildlife Division of Forest Department.
As per details, a Crocodile was sighted inside Chouldari Dam a few weeks back and again this morning sighting of Crocodile was confirmed following which information was given to Forest Department’s Wildlife Division.
On getting information a team of Wildlife Division reached the spot and on spotting of the Crocodile the team caught the Crocodile at around 9.30 AM with the help of a net from a check-dam of the Chouldari Dam . The Crocodile is 2.2 meter in length and has been identified as Salt Water Female Crocodile. Later the Crocodile was shifted to Chidiyatapu Biological Park.
As per villagers, there are some more Crocodiles in the said Dam because of which the Wildlife Division of Forest Department is conducting regular patrolling in the area and maintaining a watch.
