Basantipur, Middle Andaman, Oct 31: A No Confidence Motion passed against the Pradhan of Basantipur Panchayat, Mrs. Malati Bagchi this morning has triggered a fresh controversy in entire region.
While five ward members and the up-pradhan of Basantipur Panchayat have voted against the present Pradhan, according to the Panchayat Secretary but the Pradhan however, cried foul and said that no formal meeting or voting was actually conducted for this ‘no confidence motion’.
“The Panchayat Secretary, suddenly placed a minute infront of all the members and declared that no confidence motion against me has been passed. This is gross violation of norms, during every No Confidence Motion the voting must be carried out in a transparent way and the Pradhan should be given a chance to explain, infront of all the members,” Mrs. Malati Bagchi told Andaman Sheekha.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Bagchi has sent a complaint letter to the Director of Panchayat the Deputy Commissioner of N & M Andaman, demanding their immediate intervention.
It has been learnt that since a long time some members of the Panchayat wanted to remove the Pradhan as during her tenure she was not allowing any corrupt practices while awarding different works.
“Ward Members have hatched a conspiracy against me and I shall surely fight back,” the Pradhan added.
