Port Blair, May 30: The Secretary of IP&T, Mr. S K Singh today informed that the decision regarding extension of lockdown in South Andaman after 31st May 2021 night will be taken tomorrow (31, May 2021).
While addressing a COVID-19 media briefing in the conference hall of IP&T, the Secretary of IP&T said that today four flights with 501 passengers landed at Port Blair Airport and all passengers undergone RT-PCR test.
He further informed that 61 persons (travelers) bound for N&M Andaman were tested at Ferrargunj out of which three people were tested COVID-19 positive. RT-PCR results of today’s flight passengers are awaited.
The secretary further pointed out that yesterday (Saturday) among 138 passengers, two were found COVID-19 positive.
About vaccination drive the secretary informed that today there was no vaccination drive in South Andaman District but North and Middle Andaman conducted vaccination drive today.
The Director, ANIIMS, Dr. AK Mandal, informed that 7 new COVID patients were admitted today in G.B. Pant Hospital and 02 patients were discharged. With this, the number of corona positive patients in Hospital is 68. Out of the 68 patients, 56 are on Oxygen support and 04 are on ventilator.
Later the Deputy Director GB Pant Hospital, Shri Amitabha De said that today two new patients were admitted at COVID Care Centers, South Andaman whereas five patients got discharged and the number of patients in the COVID Care Centers is 15 and at Wimberlygunj COVID Care Center one new admission is reported, at present 05 patients are admitted in the COVID care center Wimberlygunj.
