306 flight passengers arrived and one person was tested positive: Secretary IP&T

Port Blair, May 16: The Secretary, IP&T, Shri Sunil Kumar Singh while addressing a COVID-19 media briefing held in the conference hall of IP&T today, informed that 4 flights with 306 passengers arrived today and during the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on these passengers, only one was found COVID positive.
He further informed that 80 persons bound for Middle & North Andaman were tested at Ferrargunj, of which 4 persons were found positive. He once again urged the people to follow all COVID appropriate behavior, COVID protocols and help Administration in its fight against corona virus.
About vaccination drive, the Secretary informed that it will continue for above 45+ age group and once again requested the eligible persons to come forward to get vaccinated at the earliest and help the Administration to restrict the spread of corona virus.
The Director ANIIMS, Dr. AK Mandal informed that at present 111 are admitted in the Hospital, of which 86 are on Oxygen support and 3 patients are on ventilator. He said today, 13 patients have been discharged and 13 patients have been newly admitted in G.B. Pant Hospital. The Deputy Director G.B. Pant Hospital, Shri Amitabha De disclosed that altogether, 1 COVID patient was admitted in Covid Care Centre. Further, 3 patients were discharged and at present 47 patients are still in Covid Care Centres in South Andaman District, he added. Apart from this, he said 11 patients are in the newly created Covid Care Centre at Wimberlygunj.
