Port Blair, Mar 22: A cement concrete slab of an under-construction building at Delanipur area today collapsed, killing the owner of the building Mr. Shiva Kumar, 46 years.
As per details this morning at around 10,00 AM Mr. Shiva Kumar, a private contractor and owner of the building had gone to check the construction works with this younger brother Mr. Mayilvanan, 45 years.
After reaching on the site he saw that one log, supporting the roof slab is weak, following which he asked the labourers to replace the log.
It is reported that while replacing the log, the roof slab collapsed on Mr. Shiva Kumar. Mr. Mayilvanan, who was standing close to his brother with two other labourers got injured in this accident.
Mr. Shiva Kumar was stuck under the roof and hence police and fire bridge were informed about this incident immediately, following which teams of PS Chatham and Fire Brigade reached the spot and brought Mr. Shiva Kumar out.
Soon he was rushed to G B Pant Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Other injured people were admitted in G B Pant Hospital.
