Port Blair Feb 05: The work for construction of major bridge over Middle Strait Creek between 106.590 KM to 107.762 KM seems to be progressing well.
Even after late start the NHIDLC contractor M/s Mantena Vasishta Bridge JV have reportedly reported 30 percent physical progress in this work.
As per details out of 109 piles, work for 47 piles is over and out of pile caps, work for 6 pile-caps is over.
The Middle Strait Creek Bridge is the most awaited bridge in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and will bring sea of changes in the lifestyle and economy of North and Middle Andaman, once the 1.9 KM long bridge is ready. Besides this, the bridge will reduce the ATR journey time by several hours. The total cost of this Middle Strait Bridge is reportedly 170.40 Crores.
