Port Blair, Dec 13: Mr. Nityanand Rai, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Govt. of India during his recent visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands visited Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bhavan (BJP Bhavan), Middle Point, Port Blair on 11th of December during evening hours to meet the Karyakartas of Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Nityanand Rai met karyakartas of the State Committee of Bharatiya Janata Party along with karyakartas of Minority Morcha, Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha. During the visit of the Minister of State for Home Affairs the Karyakartas of Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands explained their issues to the Minister under the leadership of Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mr. Vishal Jolly, Former State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands was also present during the occasion and interacted with the Minister.
Mr. Jyothirmay Bawali, State General Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands welcomed the Minister. Mr. Maheshwar Lal, State Office In-Charge Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands explained the issues being faced by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and also presented the work report during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A written political feedback of the major issues of Andaman and Nicobar Islands was also submitted to the Minister. The major demands included Constitution of a State Assembly or immediate reinstatement of the Pradesh Council in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, One time relaxation for the constructed buildings in violation of the Building Bye-Laws of the Port Blair Municipal Council, Harassment of Old Encroachers by the Officers of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Revival of Tourism in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Issue of quarry and sand procurement from mainland and foreign countries, filling up of vacant posts, Exorbitant increase of stamp duty charges and circle rates, Publishing and Review of report of Vivek Rae committee on report on regularisation of land matters, Decisions taken in the IDA should be implemented in letter and spirit, Construction of Bridge between Chatham and Bambooflat, problems arising because of privatisation of Electricity Department, Implementation of all the announcements made during the PM’s visit and several other issues were raised.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands also took up the issues of the resettlement of Sri Lankan Tamil Settler Families of Katchal Island to a non-tribal area with the Minister. The Minister assured to look into the issue and do the needful for the welfare of the Sri Lanknan Tamil Settlers of Katchal Island.
