Port Blair, Sept 25: In a weird incident, tents and other valuable belongings of Viper Island activists from Subhash Chandra Press Club has been stolen from their protest site.
According to report some miscreants have taken away with one Plastic table; two G.I. Pipe frames for stage, two Marine plies, eight G.I. Pipes 6 mtr. Long, three wooden buttons, two Tarpaulin 8 x 6 mtr., 200 mtr plastic rope, one Press Club Board (4 x 6 feet Plywood) with photo of Mahatma Gandhi and four Banners Subhash Chandra Press Club different sizes.
“Our indefinite Dharna has been all along peacefully, without any violence at no point of time since it being staged in democratic manner from 05/03/2012 onward. In view of rainy season the members & supporters have erected a temporary tent using G.I. Pipes and tarpaulins to protect them from sun & rain. On 25/09/2012 at about 9.00 am, when we reached at Dharna point, it is found that the entire tent and supporting materials detailed below have been stolen by some unknown persons in the intervening night of 24/25-09-2012,” Mr. Shyam Singh Yadav, General Secretary of Subhash Chandra Press Club told Andaman Sheekha today.
Meanwhile a police complaint has already been launched by the SCPC today.
The Viper Activists have been protesting against 50 berth yacht marina infront of the Secretariat Gate of Andaman and Nicobar Islands since 5, March 2012.

I am inclined to believe it is not at all a theft but a deliberate attempt to sabotage the protest, which has been an eye sore for many.
