Port Blair, Apr 29: A low pressure area is very likely to form over South Andaman Sea and neighbourhood during the next 48 hours. It is very likely to become more marked and concentrate into a Depression during subsequent 48 hours and intensify further thereafter. It is very likely to move North-Northwestwards initially and then North-Northeastwards, towards Myanmar – Bangladesh coasts during 1st to 3rd May, 2020. Under its influence, the following adverse weather is likely over South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the next 5 days.
Rainfall Warning:
- Rainfall (over the Islands): Light to moderate rainfall at most places is very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 1st to 3rd Nicobar Islands are also likely to experience heavy rainfall at isolated places on 1st May, heavy to very heavy falls at a few places on 2nd May and heavy falls at isolated places on 3rd May.
- Wind warning: Squally winds, speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail over North Sumatra coast, South Andaman Sea, Nicobar Islands and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal on 1st May, 2020, 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph over South Andaman Sea, Nicobar Islands and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal on 2nd May and 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining South Andaman Sea on 3rd
- Sea condition: Sea condition will be rough to very rough over North Sumatra coast, South Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal on 1st & 2nd May, 2020 and over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman Sea on 3rd
Fisherman Warning: The fishermen have been advised not to venture into the Sea along & off north Sumatra coast, South Andaman Sea and adjoining areas of Southeast Bay of Bengal from 1st May to 3rd May 2020.
