Innocent school children at great risk
Staff Correspondent
Port Blair, Aug 27: As per norms every four and three wheelers can carry only a specific number of passengers but in Port Blair, one could see dozens and dozens of Omnies as well as Auto-Rickshaws carrying large number of school students during school trips.
As life has become a little fast in A & N Islands, parents often prefer to book school trip vehicles for their kids. But sadly many of them do not realise that how dangerous it could be to send their children to school, in Jam packed vehicles. In these small vehicles often children are put like chicken, and many believe in case of accidents, situation may become further worse.
For little profit and of course for greed, often school trip vehicle drivers, accommodate more and more children in their vehicle, compromising the safety of all innocent children.
“For a little extra income they play with the lives of innocent children. The traffic Department must impose heavy challan on those drivers, who carry excess number of Children in their vehicle” said an angry parent.
Anyone from Traffic Department or STA can cross check this issue, by standing on the road during school opening and closing time. There is an urgent need to come down heavily on those drivers, who risk lives of innocent children for their own profit.

STA must act on this matter …….denying and ignoring facts do not make them disappear……
