Mayabunder, Apr 04: The second phase of sensitization-cum-training programme of all the Polling Personnel in North & Middle Andaman District was held on April 1st, 2019 in all the Tehsils of North & Middle Andaman District.
In Mayabunder, the training was conducted at three locations viz. Community Hall (Zilla Parishad), Gram Panchayat Hall (Mayabunder) and Gram Panchayat Hall (Pokadera). The District Election Officer, Mr. Awanish Kumar, welcomed the Polling Personnel and briefed them about the roles, duties and responsibilities of the Officers and other Polling Personnel in the conduct of free and fair election. He also emphasized that the electioneering process has to be flawless and that there is no room for error at all.
The General Observers appointed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) also observed the training process and interacted with the participants. They expressed their satisfaction with the training process and gave their valuable comments regarding Do’s and Don’ts for the Polling personnel and other Election related official on the pre-poll and the poll day.
The training was also conducted at three venues (in six phases) at Diglipur and Rangat wherein the roles and responsibilities of Polling personnel was explained through a power point presentation which was followed by a hands-on-training on the use of Control Unit, Ballot Unit, VVPAT, VSDU and paper trail with a focus on connecting the devices, sealing of the equipment, mock polls, etc.
The third and final round of training of the polling personnel will be organized on April 8, 2019. A meeting with all the sector officers and Nodal Officers has been scheduled on April 7, to discuss the overall election preparedness in the District.
