Port Blair, Mar 20: Adding to the growing cases of violence in Port Blair city, one more case of attempt to murder has been reported today from Shadipur Junction area of Port Blair this afternoon.
According to the sources Shankar Karmakar, son of Joydev Karmakar a resident of Shadipur was attacked by a man named Kartick at Shadipur Junction opposite CCS. Kartick was reportedly holding a Machete.
Mr. Shankar got injuries on his head, behind the neck, left hand and left eyebrow. He reportedly received a total of 13 stitches, when he was sent for treatment. The motive behind the attack is said to be personal dispute. The victim was admitted in the GB Pant hospital.
As per public, at the time of attack, luckily Mr. Jagdishwar Rao, Inspector CID branch, was crossing the area. Seeing officer in uniform public approached him and immediately Mr. Jagdishwar Rao intervened. When the attacker saw a cop in uniform he tried to escape but Mr. Jagdishwar Rao caught him. By the mean time a PCR Van reached the spot following calls from public. The matter was then handed over the PCR staffs and police is presently investigating the matter further.
This is one such case, where right person reached right place right on time, otherwise Port Blair city might have witnessed another broad daylight murder. Meanwhile, it is learnt that a case of attempt to murder has been registered against the accused.
