DIglipur, Jan 04: BSNL Diglipur has upgraded its technology at Diglipur exchange. The BSNL C-Dot Exchange is now connected through brand new Optical Fiber Cable from Port Blair.
Earlier, the OFC cable, which was laid about 3 feet below the earth surface two decades back was in real bad shape.
Now the new cable was laid from Port Blair to Diglipur 6 feet under the ground surface with a cost of about 20 Crores with the help of Vertical drilling machines. Due to more depth, it is now expected that damage of the cable will be minimized.
A team of BSNL officers and private entrepreneurs connected the cable with the Diglipur Exchange after a hard work of 3 long days. Earlier the BTS were equipped with Ericsson equipments now as vendor has changed, China ZTE company equipments have been installed for up gradation at all BTS Towers and BSNL Exchange.
After revamping the GPRS data speed which was earlier below 10 kb, now increased to up to 1MB in certain areas. The BTS are now equipped with advanced 3G equipments, which shows in mobiles as H+ and HD+.
The advance equipments are installed as per BSNLs Company development policies. Some consumers are now complaining that now the broadband internet has become very slow.
Presently from Rangat to Diglipur all exchanges share equal data from Kolkata through one card. The BSNL is procuring separate equipments for Diglipur exchange to increase the data capability which will further marginally increase the data speed.
