Port Blair, July 10: Once again Andaman and Nicobar Police has busted prostitution racket in these Islands and arrested five persons.
“On 06.07.12 at 2005 hrs on a tip of information about running of a brothel at Macchi Basti, Mithakhari a team of police personnel led by Mr. Susheel Kumar Singh, Dy. Supdt. of Police, Middle Andaman laid a trap to nab the offenders wherein HC/2444 Muthu Kumar was designated as decoy with HC/897 Nicolas Samson as his shadow. The decoy was handed over a currency note of Rs.500/- denomination bearing serial No.6LD 4J49J2 duly signed for identification,” SBSTyagi, the Superintendent of Police of South Andaman informed media today.
The raiding party comprising of SI Sahil Samsuddin, SHO Ograbraj, HC/896 R.C.Prasad, PC/275 S.D. Prasad, PC/2461 Alphage, LPC/2417 Nazma Begum and LPC/2354 Hiramathi of PS Ograbraj accompanied by the independent witnesses rushed to Machi Basthi, Namunaghar and positioned themselves around the suspected place of incident, awaiting receipt of signal from the shadow witness.
The decoy struck a deal with Sayed Ali and passed on the information to his shadow, who in-turn signalled the raiding party.
“On this, the raiding party along with independent witness immediately raided the residence of Shri Mohammed Arif and knocked the front door of the house which was opened by the decoy,” the SP added.
On search of the house 2 ladies, less decently dressed and three male members including the owner of the house Mohd. Arif S/o Noor Mohd. (22 yrs) R/o Namunaghar and Saied Ali S/o Syed Ali (32) yrs R/o Mithakhari & Mohar Ali S/o Jinnat Ali (34) yrs R/o Mithakhari were nabbed hiding inside the kitchen of the house.
“On personal search of the accused, Rs.500/- currency note was recovered from the possession of Sayed Ali. The recovered currency note and other incriminating articles were seized under the cover of Seizure memo. All 5 accused were arrested from the spot for running a brothel and indulging in prostitution and a criminal case has been registered against them under relevant sections of law at PS Ograbraj,” the SP added.
