Port Blair, July 07: On 21.06.11, in a raid conducted by the staff of Police Station CCS on the creditable information of Special Branch (CID), huge quantities of explosive substances had been seized at Haddo Wharf in a shocking incident in the islands. A case had been registered at PS CCS and after completion of investigation, charge sheet was submitted and the matter is pending trial before the Learned Sessions Court.
Subsequently, one accused person therein, namely Abbas Manthry, filed an application claiming involvement of 13 others, and the Learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Port Blair, passed an order on 30.04.2012, directing the SHO, PS CCS to register a fresh case and investigate. In this regard, Crime No. 228/12 dated 30/04/12 u/s 3/4/5/6 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908 and Section 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 was registered at PS CCS against 13 accused persons named therein.
During investigation of these new allegations made by Abbas Manthry, the IO S.I Girish Kumar, SHO PS CCS could unearth hidden materials establishing the concrete chain of evidence against these accused and those connected to the earlier case. DySP CID then arrested two persons namely (1) S. Bose S/o Late Sadai Marthu, Director of AGP Construction R/o Bhatubasti and (2) N. Guruswamy S/o Late Nalaswamy, Proprietor of NG Stone products R/o Prothrapur, together with their associates (1) B. Munish Kumar S/o Shri. S. Bose, Director of AGP Construction R/o Bhatubasti, and (2) R. Ramesh S/o Shri. T. Raj Babu, Owner of TRS Earth Movers R/o Bhatubasti. On 07/07/12, all four accused persons were produced before the Learned CJM and remanded to Judicial Custody pending their arraignment in the trial in the earlier case.
