Port Blair, July 01: A major fire broke out this afternoon in a private Godown at Dollygunj.
According to report the fire broke out when some workers were carried out welding works, when suddenly due to over heat, thinners kept inside the godown caught fire. By the time the workers arranged water in bucket the fire took dangerous shape. The godown is owned by ‘Shivam Enterprises’.
The fire services were called at 11.24 am and immediately six fire tenders and one bowser were rushed to the spot.
After tiring fire fight the fire was ultimately brought under control by 12.30 noon, to the much relief of people living in nearby areas.
“The fire was flaring up, now and then but now situation is under total control,” a senior officer of Fire Services told Andaman Sheekha today. There was no report of any injury in today’s incident. The prompt action of Andaman and Nicobar Fire Services has been lauded by public.
