Port Blair, June 26: Setting yet another example, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM Lt. Governor has sanctioned financial assistance to meet out the cost of open heart surgery of baby H. Wingslee Joseph, Son of Mr. A. Hari Das, resident of Haddo. The child is about two months old and has been diagnosed with a hole in the heart.
The child has been shifted to Madras Medical Mission at Chennai for the complex open heart surgery. The hospital has given an estimate of Rs. 2,70,600/- and the Lt. Governor has sanctioned the full amount in favour of the hospital for the open heart surgery. The Lt. Governor’s Secretariat had sent a communication to the hospital to proceed with the surgery to avoid any further loss of time to save the child.
Earlier, in many occasions the Lt. Governor had come forward to release money from Lt. Governor’s relief fund for poor patients of these Islands. This is first time in the history of Andaman and Nicobar Islands when any Lt. Governor had granted financial assistant for so many poor families on medical ground.
Meanwhile, the father of the child Mr. Hari Das has expressed gratitude towards Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands for releasing the amount for his son’s treatment.
Mr. Hari Das has also expressed gratitude towards Mr. Satish Mathur, the Secretary to Lt. Governor, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. R Mohan, President BJP’s State Unit, Mr. Haridas Chattopadhyay, incharge Culture Cell of BJP, Members of Humane Touch, NGO for their support.

Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh is an example of a great man who has a big heart. Not all people are willing to do this, good thing people like them exist and that the child was saved. Great job! I hope that there will be more people like you and no children or adult would die because they couldn’t afford the treatment.
