Port Blair, July 09: Indian Coast Guard conducted a beach clean-up drive at Wondoor Beach on 08 Jul 17 towards government of India flagship programme “Swachha Sagar Abhiyan”. The service has been effectively contributing not only towards Prime Minister’s visionary step of clean India campaign but also has taken step towards “Swachha Sagar Abhiyan” through putting efforts towards beach clean ship in these pristine Islands. Under this program, various Coast Guard ships and establishments in Port Blair are undertaking beach clean up on every Saturday. Port Blair, July 09: Indian Coast Guard conducted a beach clean-up drive at Wondoor Beach on 08 Jul 17 towards government of India flagship programme “Swachha Sagar Abhiyan”. The service has been effectively contributing not only towards Prime Minister’s visionary step of clean India campaign but also has taken step towards “Swachha Sagar Abhiyan” through putting efforts towards beach clean ship in these pristine Islands. Under this program, various Coast Guard ships and establishments in Port Blair are undertaking beach clean up on every Saturday. The event was conducted on 08 Jul 17 from 1500 hrs to 1700 hrs by Indian Coast Guard personnel where in approximately 400 mtrs of beach was cleaned and about 200 kgs of garbage collected, which was further handed over to PBMC for disposal. The time was selected during low tide so as to have maximum area of beach available for cleaning. The event was witnessed and applauded by locals and tourists. The beach looked cleaner on completion of the clean up drive. Coast Guard Region (A & N) is poised to realize the goals of “Swachha Bharat Abhiyan” and will continue to contribute towards their national dream.
