Rangat, June 06: Under the theme for this year was “Green Economy: Does it include you”, various programmes were conducted to observe the day in a meaningful manner. Smt Pushpa Kumari Amma, Principal, GSSS Sabari released a special display banner designed by the school Eco Club at a small function held at the school premises. She motivated the green cadets by her enlightening words and appealed to the students and teachers for getting themselves involved in some sort of action for protecting and conserving Mother Nature. She stressed upon on her view that the need for everyone to play their part in keeping humankind’s ecological footprint within planetary boundaries.The released display banner depicts some eco friendly tips for keeping Rangat clean and green. A team led by Mr. Bency Joy, Eco club Incharge along with the green cadets and few teachers of the school affixed the banners at prominent public viewing places at Rangat and Sabari.
The team was accompanied by Mr. Suman Halder, Mr. Ram Parvesh, Mr. Nimai Chandra Paik and Mr. Mahender Pal. The Greenos also interacted with the public,sensitized them about the importance of the celebration of the day.
Earlier Mr. Bency Joy, Eco club, Incharge highlighted the importance of celebrating the day and appealed to students for sensitizing their friends and community people towards conserving and protecting mother nature which was followed by a quiz competition organized in between the four teams of the school. Varaguneshwaran and his team was declared as the winners while Vishal and team were declared as the runner ups. The students and teachers of the school also participated in a signature campaign pledging their support towards promoting conservation and sustainable management of biological resources.
Prizes were also given to the students in various eco related competitions conducted by the Greeno Eco Club through out the previous academic year. Congratulating the students, Principal of the school Smt Pushpa Kumari Amma highlighted on the importance of the observance of the day and also the efforts done by the club to create environmental awareness among the school children and local community.
