Hut Bay, Little Andaman, Sept 28: The theft case of Hut Bay Panchayat, Little Andaman finally reached to the climax today, when the absconding prime accused, the Up-Pradhan of the same Panchayat surrendered himself to police.
According to details the Andaman and Nicobar Police had detained the Up-Pradhan, Rajesh Tete on 26 September, 2016 as a prime accused of Hut Bay Panchayat theft case, in which Rs. 1.74 lakhs were stolen from the said Panchayat on 24 September night.
Later based on Rajesh Tete’s statement a co-accused of the case, Dalaiah was also arrested and Rs. 1 lakh was recovered from his possession.
However, while helping police to recover rest amount the Up-Pradhan reportedly escaped inside deep forest of Onge Tikrey, Little Andaman.
Soon a massive search operation was launched by police to trace out Rajesh Tete.
Finally the high drama ended this morning when Rajesh Tete surrendered to police. He was immediately arrested.
As per sources he will be sent to Port Blair tomorrow by ferry and will be produced to court.
