Port Blair, May 27: A cast away fisherman who reached coastal areas of Jarawa Tribal reserve anyhow after his dinghy capsized in bad weather, has been rescued by members of Jarawa Tribal Community.
According to details on 20 May two fishermen, Dev Shankar Biswas and Mahendran of Guptapara village went out for fishing from Manjeri. Sadly due to bad weather their dinghy collapsed and capsized in high sea.
Anyhow Mahendran managed to reach to the shore from where he was rescued by Jarawa tribes. It is learnt that for two days members of Jarawa Tribal Community took good care of Mahendran. They also offered a shirt to the fisherman, who was almost naked after his boat capsized.
Later some Jarawa Tribes brought the fisherman to Collinpur, from where the fisherman came to Police Station and intimated about the accident. A police team later went out for patrolling and found remains of the dinghy and also the body of Dev Shankar Biswas, who could not manage to reach to the shore.
