Port Blair, May 11: In a major break through, the Rangat Police has apprehended 04 Myanmar nationals from Mark Bay Island during the peak night hrs.
Acting on a information about presence 04 Burmese nationals near Mark Bay Island a team comprising of SI Mahesh Kumar SHO PS Rangat along with PC/1444 J.K. Tirkey, PC/2214 Anil Yadav, PC/1573 P.K. Golder, PC/1106 Kokhan, Dutta, HG/457 Bhasker Rao, HG/478 Thandeswaran and other 02 civilians namely Mr. K. Krishna Rao and Mr. Deepak Kerketta both R/o Rangat Bay immediately left for Mark Bay by a dinghy for antipoaching operation. After reaching Mark Bay Island the team conducted search operating during extreme darkness and after locating surrounded the 04 Myanmarese. On seeing Police party, 02 Myanmar nationals tried to escape and all 04 of them were apprehended after firing 04 rounds in air at 0115 hrs. on 11.05.2012 Later the apprehended Myanmar nationals were brought to PS Rangat on 11.05.2012 at 0505 hrs. from where they have been sent to PS CCS for further legal action.
“Further general public is requested to pass on any credible information regarding poachers to the phone numbers 274239, 100, 273206 information will be suitably rewarded,” a release from A & N Police Department said here today.
