Port Blair, March 10: The Traffic Police Unit, Port Blair has forwarded details of around 200 vehicles to the State Transport Authority recently for the permit cancellation.
This step has been taken by the Traffic Police Unit against those vehicles, who do not have a proper parking area and cause Obstructive Parking in the Port Blair City.
As per initial reports, the STA has till now cancelled the permit of nearly 40-50 vehicles.
The efforts of Traffic Police Unit should also be appreciated as the accident percentage as compared to the last five years has decreased in the islands.
As per an RTI report, in the year 2010 the total number of accident cases that was registered was 285, in the year 2011 it was 234, in 2012 the accident cases registered were 236, 2013 the accidents registered were 200 and in 2014 the accident cases registered were 218 but this year till date the number of accident cases registered is much lesser than records of last five years.
