Port Blair, Dec 15: A boy of Lokrachang Village of Baratang area died on Saturday last due to Andaman Fever. According to reports the boy fell ill after coming back from forest a few days back.
The family members of the 16 year old boy, Sumit Khujur, Never thought the health issue can become so severe and took the boy to local Shaman instead of hospital. But when the health condition did not improve they brought the boy to PHC Baratang, where his life could not be saved.
The Doctor of PHC Baratang has also accepted the boy had Andaman Fever (Leptospirosis).
This incident shows that still there is lack of awareness about Andaman Fever in remote villages.
