Port Blair, Nov 22: The Chief Secretary, along with a team of key Secretaries/Directors and other officials will undertake a tour of Neil & Havelock Islands on Nov 24 and 25, 2015. They will review the progress of development works and redressal of public grievances at Neil & Havelock Islands. They will also undertake inspection of major projects, review progress of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and also hold extensive consultations with the PRIs at these places. The tour is part of the efforts of the Administration to provide a responsive and people friendly administration to the people of the Islands.
The Chief Secretary and his team has already undertaken the result-oriented visits at Diglipur, Mayabunder and Rangat on 12th to 14th October 2015 in North & Middle Andaman District. On 3rd/4th November, similar visits have also been undertaken by the Chief Secretary and his team of Secretaries of the key departments at Hutbay and Nicobar. Mini Secretariat under the Chief Secretary has also been operated at Kamorta and Campbell Bay Southern group of Islands on 6th & 7th of this month.
The Secretaries and HODs of major Departments have been geared up for this. All field officers of the concerned Departments shall be present to assist the Chief Secretary. Efforts shall be made to settle maximum local issues on the spot while major issues which may require further examination shall be referred to Port Blair. It is pertinent to mention that issues raised before the mini Secretariat operated at various places are being reviewed in the Chief Secretary weekly coordination meeting for ensuring and taking the same to the logical end.
Mr N K Sharma, Secretary (Home, Civil Aviation, RD/PRIs) shall be the nodal Secretary and coordinate this programme.
