Port Blair, Oct 29: In a spectacular act of bravery, a youth of Nilambur village of Baratang, Mr Suresh, a Jawan from Indian Army, today saved a person from drowning near Nilambur (Baratang) Jetty.
According to reports at around, 4.30 pm, when MV Austin- III, a vehicle ferry vessel reached the Nilambur Jetty, one passenger lost his balance and fell into the sea.
While nearly 40 people standing at the Jetty, were watching the man struggling in deep waters, to keep himself afloat, Mr. Suresh, who is a resident of the area and was present at the Jetty Jumped into the water, without wasting time.
It took nearly 8-10 minutes to bring the person ashore. Seeing the bravery of Suresh, other spectators also later helped to bring the person out of sea. People gathered at the Jetty lauded the brave act of Suresh, who did not think twice before jumping into the sea to save a drowning person. As per reports Mr. Suresh, posted in Mainland India, is visiting his native on leave.
