Port Blair, Apr 24: It has been alleged by vehicle owners that some youths, who are fixing High Security Number Plates on vehicles at ITF Ground, are forcefully demanding tips for the job. If denied, they are either behaving rudely or delaying number plate fixing work.
“They directly demand Rs. 20 from every vehicle owners and if someone refuses to pay, they make him wait for hours,” said a vehicle owner who had a bitter argument with two of such youths while fixing High Security Number Plates recently. However, there was no one in ITF to comment anything to media when Andaman Sheekha team visited the venue.
“Rs. 20 is nothing but why should we pay extra and why should general public get humiliated by them for just Rs. 20,” asked a vehicle owner.
Everyday hundreds of High Security number plates are fixed at ITF, which means that those who are demanding tips from public are earning more than Rs. 500 a day from tips. A check has to be there on these people as often for just Rs. 20 general public are being humiliated and harassed at ITF venue.
