Port Blair, Apr 23: Andaman & Nicobar Administration in cooperation with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India has launched centrally sponsored schemes ‘National Mission on Food Processing’ (NMFP) w.e.f. 01-04-2012. The Director of Industries, Andaman & Nicobar Administration has been designated as Mission Director and Directorate of Industries shall act as Mission Directorate for implementing the Schemes of NMFP in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Schemes to be covered under NMFP are:
Scheme for Technology Up-gradation/Setting up/Modernization/ Expansion of Food Processing Industries. Scheme for Supporting Cold Chain Facilities for Non-Horticultural Products and Refer Vehicles.
Scheme for Human Resource Development (HRD) are (a) Creation of Infrastructure Facilities for Running Degree/Diploma/ Certificate Courses in Food processing Technology (b) Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP). (c) Food Processing Training Centre (FPTC)
Scheme for Promotional Activities (a) Organizing Seminar/Workshops (b) Conducting Studies/Surveys (c) Support to Exhibitions/Fairs (d) Advertisement & Publicity.

All concerned who would be seeking financial assistance from the above mentioned schemes may submit their applications (as per XI plan scheme guidelines) to the Directorate of Industries, Middle Point, Port Blair. For obtaining further details about the scheme, it is advised to contact Assistant Director (Technical-II) or Extension Officer (SR) on any working days during the office hours.
