Port Blair, July 24: The Andaman Sai Seva Samity (ASSS), A & N Islands distributed school kits containing uniforms, bags, notebooks and shoes to 37 students of Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Rangachang on Thursday. The Chairman, UT Commission for protection of child rights, Smt Sheela Singh distributed the kits to the students from the economically weaker sections of the society.
In her address, Smt Singh appreciated the efforts of Sai Seva Samity particularly for the welfare of the rural and remote population of these islands. She also highlighted the need for protection of rights of the children, role of teachers, parents and society and the necessity of the UT commission in these Islands. Mr Ghan Shyam, President, Andaman Sai Seva Samiti, Mr Rajesh Puria, Mr Santosh kumar Singh, Advisory Board Members were also present on the occasion.
Saplings were also planted in the school premises as part of celebration of the 66th Van Mahotsava. The Incharge of the school proposed the vote of thanks.
